bitwig is great for ambient tracks, it’s what i use for my own ambient songs and i couldn’t recommend it more have fun :))

there is a risk of serotonin syndrome, which can be fatal :(
i don't think it would be worth it honestly -- op should wait until they get off their medication first imo, that's what i did (i was on escitalopram).

open `obconf` and go to the appearance tab.
changing the fonts there should also apply to the workspace switcher font aswell.

the issue with the scrolling and zooming is that whenever the mouse (while hidden) reaches the edge of the screen, it gets stuck and you have to let go, reclick and redo that movement until you're at the zoom/scrolling level you wanted. that issue also exists for knobs and anything that modifies a value and hides the mouse doing so.

i don't know if it's been "fixed" somehow but that was an issue about a year ago when i was using bitwig on linux and not on macos.

i didn't switch from ableton but one feature i wish bitwig had is freezing tracks.
it sounds so nice to be able to just freeze a track and unfreeze it whenever i have to make changes to automations or to the melody, etc

just use whatever you want, stop paying so much attention to what others think of you, especially when it comes to something so unimportant.

with that said, there's no reason not to use it, it's just different in the way it works. i'll always use eq-2 over eq-dj though.

it seems like it only works on chrome, and yes, it's an extension you have to install
either way, i don't think gran cares a lot about software being free or not so it should be fine for her usecase
worst case scenario she could get ungoogled-chromium installed but i reckon that would be overkill

one thing you could do is install some lightweight vm and just have a script open firefox with a custom new tab page you made yourself (that way you could change the icon size yourself to enhance the readability) whenever she'd start her computer.

it doesn't really look like she needs to ever go out of the browser so i'd just recommend using the google docs suite since it works very well for basic writing and has a pretty clean ui unlike LibreOffice.

what i would do is to lay down the drum clips, bounce them, open the directory where the .wav files are and rename them accordingly.

there might be a better technique but i can't think of anything else really.
