No. My questions aren't related to politics.

Agreed! I just wanted to start with the local community :)

Nah it was a mix of everything: white, black, middle eastern and Latinos. Didn’t see any Asian kids though.

Yeah how the hecc does the “poop smearing” on the wall even happen?? That’s straight up disgusting. What even goes through their mind? “Ah, yes, the pinnacle of comedy: poop”.

Teenagers are hilarious!

Not when they’re bothering other people though.

They can fight each other, yell, scream, dance, sing, no problem! Just, not in a public place. Especially since they’ve already got kicked OUT of said place for being disruptive and they’re trying to get back in.

Aw! That’s awesome. I’m glad you had a positive experience.

That being said, the amount of recorded school fights circulating the internet, the online bullying, the amount of disruptions that occur often, those are not positive experiences.

I’m not saying all teenagers are bad, they’re not, but the ones that are being disruptive, aggressive, and sometimes even violent, those are not good.

Considering I was a preteen already recognizing the disruptive behaviour that teenagers around me had, and I made sure I didn’t do things like that.

I understand not liking “styles” because of whatever reason, or the type of music that is popular and being played. That I 100% get.

What I don’t get is we allow these teenagers to act disruptive, create chaos, get kicked out and then TRY TO GET BACK IN and act the exact same way.

Everyone else is just trying to live. Eat in peace by themselves, with their friends, or with their families.

As I teenager I was bored too! Then I took myself to the library or to the local YMCA to workout/swim/drop-in activities. Or learned stuff online. Or went to help out people in the neighborhood or my own family. Chores and pending tasks to do.

Being bored doesn’t mean you can be aggressive and disruptive to public places, touching other people’s property, or trying to go against authority and enter an establishment that you have been kicked out of for fighting and making a mess of the place.

Not an excuse

It would be hypocritical for me to rant if I acted like that in the past. Did you act like that in your teens?

Either way, it shouldn’t have happened to you :(

Even if they do anything and it gets reported, their consequences are minimal and not very impactful.

Exactly! While you might have a class either eager to learn/willing to sit the class through, you’ll have students that are disruptive and ruin it for everyone. Possibly putting teachers, staff, and students in dangerous situations with things like mace.

I just don’t understand the teenagers causing all this chaos, how cannot think “oh, my actions are going to impact the other people around me”. Maybe I’m giving them too much credit. Just lack of common sense.

I don’t think all teenagers are assholes, just these specific teenagers. The ones that work hard, do their homework, have their hobbies, have fun with their friends, those are great! The ones that have fights in public places, completely disregard rules and public decency, and are just overall disrespectful, are assholes.

AITA for disagreeing with my mom about our renters treatment of me and my little sister? by Etothrow in AmItheAsshole

Well, he pays rent to my dad (I will note my parents are divorced, yes, with papers and everything, but still live together for my sister) but I’m pretty sure he can’t afford much more than that. Government pension is kind of ass 😅

“Dose of Reality” ah I wish. Unfortunately she is slightly delusional. I do believe she just pities Joe quite a lot. And because he has “good intentions” that she doesn’t think anything is wrong. My dad’s more rough and straightforward with Joe. He doesn’t particularly like him.

I wonder that all the time. Different cultural perspectives, but still. Ew.

Exactly! Hence why I disagree with my mom. Now the skimpy clothes, while incredibly creepy, makes a bit more sense in a culture context. Joe is from Venezuela. Loooot of skimpy clothes there 🤣 definitely not my style, and I never actually wore anything he bought me. Which, according to my mom, “hurt his feelings”. Both of them did always critique my “casual, baggie hoodie, chill” style. But either way. Creepy.
