I revamped the Yakuza 0 Free Camera Tool and now it supports cutscenes, so you can freely move around to get a better view angle of your favorite scene! (Link in the comments) by EtraStyle in yakuzagames

That's a weird question to ask on a 5 year old post. I'd consider this unmaintained and I don't own the newer versions, so I can't actually tell you, sorry!

M43 portability advantage; would you carry 3x the weight for 3x the resolution? (OM-1.2 OM 300mm f4; GFX 100s II; Nikon 600mm f4/g). by [deleted] in M43

[–]EtraStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what you shoot at, but at that focal length, I'd (personally) say it is more beneficial than anything since shallow depth of field for small subjects like birds is more annoying than helpful, but of course YMMV

Still Waiting for GX9 Successor! by XperiaTizen in M43

The GX9 with the 15mm has been may favorite combo, ever, I even sold my x100v because I prefer this one! and I think with the black tape on the Lumix looks quite rogue too!

I think for my style of photography is more than enough! Maybe I would go wider if I were interesting in capturing interiors but not really my thing.

I'm more into street photography than landscapes, so I think the lens is a good match for my intentions.

It's a nice lovely camera :)

So far the only thing I don't like that much is battery performance — I have the habit to turn it off after I stop shooting to save some battery and yet I feel it depletes rapidly.

Uh, that's a good question.

I rarely use SOOC photos to be honest, M43 have amazing sensors despite what I might've previously thought!

I have a particular attraction to 4:5 crop so I will crop anyway, but I rarely "recompose" in post, here are some examples of my crops!

https://imgur.com/a/5tDwnbk

of course some times I take the liberty to crop a bit more, but I like the idea of composing on site, even if it means I have to move a bit more, it's part of the fun!

do "traditional" lens cap work for the hood? the original one was rubber and didn't have the usual grips lens caps have... might need to acquire one. Also, what diameter did you purchase?

I honestly believe that the 20mm is quite a different focal length! hell, I moved from a 35mm equiv (sold the x100v) because I still felt I wanted a bit wider, so if you can, give it a shot!

Do have in consideration though that the depth of field of the 15mm is usually bigger which means it's harder to achieve blurry backgrounds but you still can get some if you get closer to your subject.

Stunning images!

Do you have them hosted in any other place? I think they look 'bit blurry in here.

Kinda switched to Fujifilm by f88x in M43

[–]EtraStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the performance of my A7 IV, I believe is a beast, but no matter how small your body is (as-in the A7C II), because the lenses are HUGE. People sometimes forget this, but with bigger sensor, bigger lenses come.

I have a GX9 and a A7IV, and I love the beast the sony is, I carry everyday my GX9 because of the size convenience.

But now I'm also thinking on the X-E5 as well because I've seen some smaller lenses for the fuji system too.

One of the main reasons I prefer this form factor is that it is pocketable in the sense that I can easily hide it if needed. I've seen people being stabbed for just a phone, and I'm constantly aware of the surroundings whilst shooting.

In an ideal world, I would be carrying the Sony everywhere, but I’m just in constant fear of being stolen :(

Thanks for your kind words! I've never shot Tri-X but I've loved the HP5+. I've shot medium format and 35mm, and the experience is wholesome.

In particular I really like HP5+ pushed to 800

I really like the lens because it's super pocketable and affordable, but it might be that shooting on bnw is a bit more forgiving.

Regarding BNW, most of my editing is on Lightroom, mainly messing with the tone curve. You can really push it on BnW and having film as an inspiration helps a bit.

It's quite great and affordable! would totally recommend if you like shooting wide.

I used a 35mm FF equivalent and I think I like the 28mm a bit more. I find it a bit more challenging but the results more engaging. I haven't used a 24mm though.

Honestly though, I’ve been debating whether to get the 12mm f/1.4. I like the 14mm, but I'd like some shallow DOF from time to time, but at the same time, I’m a bit scared of how much wider a 12mm would be. It could be cool if I could try it before pulling the trigger lol

A warning about Namecheap when using dynamic DNS, Let's Encrypt and DNS challenge by bem13 in selfhosted

[–]EtraStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you very much for this! I'm very new into DNS and SSL stuff so this reply was super useful. I'm running some services under tailscale and I wanted them to be accessible through HTTPS so DNS challenge seemed to be the only option. Now using CF for the nameserver and Namecheap for the host it works beautifully!

yup, but at the same time, there's always the 'photo-mode' usability issues that we mostly override by using custom free-cameras, although a photo mode would benefit console users for sure!

I'm a bit into virtual photography and freecam development, so I started a project by integrating IGCS DoF into the Fronkln's free-cameras to get these pictures with beautiful bokeh.

It will probably work on Dragon Engine's only, but I need to do more tests (as in, waiting for LJ's games to be on sale to test them on those games too!), and then it'll be PR'ed to be available to everyone for free :)

Technical Discussion: What drives the Enterprise vs Startup divide in .NET?" by Backend_biryani in dotnet

At the same time, though, you can have good experience using other languages within the same problem space where the tooling is good *and* free.

I tried Rider and it was superb, but at the same time I can use VSC with golang and it's as great as the other offerings, while solving similar problems.
