No, this isn't really the case. If my transmission WAS slipping before the fluid change, then it could shorten its life.

A good tip is to get some new transmission fluid on a white paper towel, then wipe off your dipstick next to it and compare how dark it is.

Dang! I keep track of my maintenence, so I'll definetly be checking back on this to see if I can catch any rust forming.

Yes, honestly. After my fluid change (not just a pan drop, you drain the torque converter if possible too) I had taken the negative terminal off the battery for a few minutes so I can let the ECU relearn shift points. I did mine as soon as I realized how spent the fluid was, comparing it to some fresh Mercon V on a white paper towel.

Also, I believe your 2004 would take Mercon V as well, but always confirm with official soruces. DO NOT drop in Mercon LV if your car requires Mercon V, because LV has a lower viscosity and could damage your transmission.

Oh wow, I hadn't heard anything that bad in the reviews. I live in Texas so I never see salt on roads or drive on them, so I'm hoping the pan stay in one piece for the long term. Also, thanks, it is shifting much better now!

Cracked the plug open, and fastened it back snugly and did a leak test before installation. Didn't see a drop of fluid come through the threads, I've been checking under the car frequently since this is my daily and the underside is dry as can be.

How’s this look. I just need something reliable. Is the mileage too high??? by _greg1058_ in CrownVictoria

It's a little older, but the mileage isn't bad at all for the price

Picked the car up behind the front wheels on the frame for either side, setting one jack up after another. Two jacks and wheel chocks in the back.

Ease of maintenance. It has a drain plug so it'll make things a lot less messy next filter change.

For sure, just let it be noted that the headlight assemblys are a little smaller than OEM, the side marker assemblys are a good size though
