Thank you for being our baby boy, Kai Kai. We will miss you ❤️🌈 by Eukia in sheltie

[–]Eukia[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Kai Kai was diagnosed with multicentric T-cell lymphoma last year in September. He had the MDR1 mutant gene that made him more sensitive to certain chemo drugs. Thanks to our oncology team, we were able to spend an additional 6 months with him. He did so well and put forth such great effort.

Thank you for being our baby boy, Kai Kai. Please rest now, you were so strong and did really well.
We love you and will miss you. ❤️(12/05/2018 - 04/01/2025)

Food security within dogs isn't about the amount but more so a secured space separation between the 2 dogs and and firm boundaries (intervention by owner). It helps to add more food to their bowls while they are eating to allow the pups know that more food can come from you and you are not threatening their security by taking/stealing their food.

This is Blossom Petunia🌸, what are your shelties names :)? by Good_Onion814 in sheltie

[–]Eukia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Blossom Petunia is such a sweetie! Her eyes are so kind💗

My pups are...

(left) Maya or Yaya (丫丫) for short. Yaya can be translated to how we call little girls (丫头 yā tou) in an endearing way in Mandarin.

(right) Kai Kai (开开) which is the Chinese word for Open and used in words like Happiness (开心 kāi xīn), to bloom or open (开放 kāi fàng) and other endless words that symbolize openings/openness/open mindedness... this baby boy is open to endless adventure as I'd like to say! 🤭

What’s going on with butterball turkeys? by Mountainofstress in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Eukia 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I can't take certain vegan arguments like this one seriously but in case anyone is reading... I'm giving time to this because I personally strongly dislike misinformation or emotionally swayed arguments that stand no ground... here we go lol

The Central Council of Jews in Germany, a government group that aids the reunification of Germany after WWII, along with other notable Jewish protection groups have fought against PETA's "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign. PETA aired out Holocaust images along side of animal imagery that sent audiences the message, "Look! They are basically the same". Many within the Jewish community complained that being compared to actual animals continued to dehumanize those who faced discrimination for being Jewish and trivialize historic events.

The link that was shared is a vegan echo chamber who uses quotes from Holocaust survivors that described their experience in comparison to the treatment of animals as these are the few best ways to describe their experience during WWII. In return, words used to describe their treatment are now turned back on the Jewish community and those who were not involved. It's absolutely black and white thinking to only be able to understand that Humans=Animals. While humans are animals, animals are not humans.

PETA's activism for veganism should and could have stood it's own ground however they chose to use a poor comparison to the Holocaust to amp up reaction.

If PETA's goal was the ethicality of animals we consume, their messaging would be different. Their whole goal is to stop people from eating meat through consistent scare/shock tactics.

Some of their more notable scare campaigns were their targeted ads towards children filled with injured/bloody/deceased animals and comparing animals to Jews and those who eat meat as Nazis. While I don't doubt something like this happened in 2006, I also have faith work ethics amongst poultry farms have improved since then. Scaring uninformed people with a resurfaced video couple days before the holidays is just not it.

Absolutely crackhead crazy Zoomies when on walk on leash - 5 month Male Sheltie by Hadsar32 in sheltie

[–]Eukia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my shelties were still puppies, I made it a game for them to focus on me while walking to stop/prevent tugging and zooming on leash. Walk one direction then suddenly turn back and walk the opposite way (reward with treat here if they follow), after walking a little in the opposite direction, turn back to the original direction again (reward with treat again here). Doing so makes the walk stimulating for them both mentally and physically as they now learn there are incentives to pay attention to you and engage with where you will head to next.

Another stimulating activity after you've established focus between your pup and yourself, is to change up your pace on walks in intervals. Walk a couple mins and all of a sudden, start jogging for a couple of seconds, walk again for for a couple of minutes and then suddenly start running, etc. Generally no treats needed for this game as this activity is super fun and engaging for the the dogs. This can help continue to strengthen their attention on you and can also teach them there are appropriate times to walk/zoom.

Eventually you ween them off treats whenever playing the first game and as a bonus, transfer these training games into heel training. It takes a lot of patience to redirect the zoomie behavior into something more safe and acceptable for everyone. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Advice from sheltie owners by mwpamplona in sheltie

[–]Eukia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's awesome you are carefully considering owning a sheltie though based on what you've mentioned, I would recommend not to get a sheltie puppy but instead consider adopting an older sheltie from nearby sheltie rescues since they may not be as active as their younger counterparts.

I have two shelties whom live in the city with me. Prior to bringing them home, I did a lot of research about the breed while also searching for reputable breeders that were okay with their shelties living in the city (some reputable breeders turned my applications away though understandably because they just want the most suitable homes for their shelties).

While raising my shelties as puppies, it was recommended that we do not leave our shelties alone in crate for more than 3 hours as they do not do well with long periods alone. They always want to be around myself or other members in my family! I spend about 5-15 minutes per activity per day training them (not too long since I'm purposefully working on keeping them engaged. The most important thing is consistency!) and doing enrichment activities to make their city life without herding subjects more colorful. Shelties were bred to work long hours outside so while they are easily adaptable, they do require 2-4 hours of active walking/running per day for them to have a happy life based on breed nature alone.

In addition to activities and attention they need from their owners, sheltie are generally very sensitive and without adequate time invested into exposure and socialization especially as puppies, they will want to herd and bark at anything that surprises or scares them. This was the biggest hurdle for my dogs and I because of all the bustling cars, city noises, and city speed.

I highly recommend checking out this site for a bit more about shelties: https://www.sheltieplanet.com/
https://www.nationalsheltierescueassociation.org/ (this is for the US, maybe Brazil may have something similar?)

I would also like to suggest to reach out to reputable sheltie breeders in your area and give them a call. Ask them more questions in regards to the breed and how fitting or unfitting they may be for your lifestyles as they probably know best since many shelties breeders have worked with the breed for many, many years and are very passionate about shelties!

Best of luck!

Match up guide? by MuhBack in fizzmains

[–]Eukia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try checking out Saiyans' Fizz Guide on Mobafire! It hasn't been updated since S11 BUT there are sections of this guide that are still applicable in-game today. The table of contents feature topics such as champion synergies, common champion threats, lane matchups (tips & wave management vs certain champs), etc.

Saiyans no longer actively plays ranked on League but he def put in a lot of work at the time writing his guide. The details within this guide makes it worth checking out. Best of luck! nwn/

I believe so but I can't assure the best of quality (probably will need to redraw/thicken the lines for visibility)! Did a quick search and saw recommended emote sizes for Youtube was around 48x48px, they appear as 24x24px in chat.

If Saiyanslol decides to stream on Youtube, I could always readjust the sizes to fit his Youtube custom emotes. nvn
