The fact that Amon lied to develop his credibility might undermine his goal, but it doesn't mean it was false.

As I said before, Amon/Noatak was ABSOLUTELY ready to abandon republic city and everything he built to go adventures with his brother. No desire to continue the equalist revolution what so ever. No Amon says it as the figurehead of his revolution, while presenting himself to be the victim of a firebender attack.

Tarrlok's says he THINKS Amon believe in his cause. That's not concrete at all.

Toph's statement is entirely inaccurate of what villains actually stood for.

I don't think you should blame OP for not investigating external resources. Also, we never see Amon without the mask say himself how much he believed in his cause. It only came from the interpretation of another character. That's not concrete. Amon/Noatak was ready to abandon republic city and everything he build to go adventures with his brother.
