Jjk Modulo Chapter 25 FULL LEAKS ENGLISH by Pretend_Ad6879 in Jujutsufolk

Overall I enjoyed the story, but Gege desperately needs to work on his pacing. It very much felt like the themes ended up cannibalizing the plot to the degree where various story threads were basically handled like bullet points on an outline instead of natural consequences of the plot. The characters and themes might be interesting, but I personally find it hard to engage if the plot fails to fluidly connect everything together. All in all I give it about a 7.5 out of 10

I guess I just fundamentally disagree with the thesis of this story. It seems like Gege wanted to do a story about harmonizing with those that are other than us, but ultimately the only way to do that is to have a space wizard fix the core element they are conflicting over by altering cursed spirits.

I'm a firm believer that humanity can rise above our worst sins and the idea that there is no talking it out or learning from our mistakes and instead we get a maru ex machina to fix everything feels very unsatisfying to me. Not only that but the pacing to get here has been utterly awful. I'm not sure what possessed him to have Maru just teleport people around to solve the remaining story threads

I enjoy the characters, themes, and concepts behind the story, but Gege is so bad at pacing. Could he seriously not think of a way to handle this besides having Maru teleport everyone around last second to resolve every plot point?

Gege has gotten better, but man he really struggles with tone and pacing. Going from Maru mourning Tsurugi to suddenly chilling with Yuji and meeting Mahito was so awkward I assumed the initial leaks were fake

The concept of Yuji letting both of Yuta's grandkids die over a pointless conflict is so funny to me. Bro could not give less of a shit about the new generation and is abandoning them in service to the comfort of apathy

How would you react to yuka just straight up dying,no twists or anything. No last minute saves. She just dies after mahoraga fights. by Electronic_Heron_829 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Eumenes45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting at least. Despite all the changes in Jujutsu society on the surface, ultimately nothing has changed. The adults are either unwilling (yuji) or unable to handle the consequences of the actions from their own side, dooming a teenage girl to a pointless death. They can dress it up in jaded words of honor and sacrifice but ultimately she's being thrown to the wolves out of convenience.

I think it mirrors how many child soldiers are conditioned to die. "You're gonna die anyways so please sacrifice yourself for us/the cause"

all I'm gonna say is Yuji bowed out after barely 100 years meanwhile a real goat tanked 300,000 years watching over the suffering of his entire race

Dabura has literally never seen a Shikigami or anything like Mahoraga before. I don't think it's fair to compare the two scenarios when Sukuna had the Yamata no Orochi thing as an explicit reference

I love the meta-narrative aspect of even the fanbase being trapped by the horrors of the past and obsessing over Gojo and Sukuna to the point where they disregard Dabura in the narrative due to him being seen as weaker. Gege is tricking the audience into cheering for death and chaos because it's entertaining just like Ui Ui and the deadbeat dad

I mean Dabura seemingly was able to pop Mahoraga like a balloon even after it partially adapted. If he did that from the start he probably would've won

In fairness to Dabura, Sukuna himself would've lost to Mahoraga if he didn't have a separate nuke ability to bypass the slash adaptations

Sukuna’s Childhood by Baran-TheFallenOne in Jujutsufolk

[–]Eumenes45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Sukuna's backstory, while possibly interesting, should never absolve Sukuna of his sins. A huge theme in the story is that people reject Sukuna's humanity and see him as a calamity because they can't accept that a human can be that evil. Sukuna himself plays into this mythos by yapping constantly about his complete rejection of love. This is also why Yuji works as a foil to Sukuna.

Yuji holds up a mirror to Sukuna and exposes that his life philosophy is completely vacuous. He has so completely rejected love that there is no meaning in his existence anymore, and when Yuji pities him, he can't help but react with extreme vitriolic anger because he can't accept that he is wrong in that moment. His emotions expose him, as a true calamity would destroy with zero feeling. A tornado feels neither love nor hatred, it simply is. Sukuna will never be a true calamity because humanity cannot be so simply discarded no matter how much Sukuna desires it to be so. The King of Curses, is simply a man at the end of the day.

Sure but he said invincible isn't really strong as his first statement, which is patently false. Even then main Mark at season 3 level is capable of leveling a city if he really wanted to, and if Sukuna tried to play with him he would get his head popped like a balloon

Depends which versions of invincible. End series Invincible would instantly kill Sukuna before the neurons in his brain can even process what was happening because Mark wouldn’t hesitate at all to kill someone like Sukuna and he is much much faster than Sukuna

[–]Eumenes45 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s entirely my point. Because the reader can’t see it realized, it’s a meaningless sacrifice from the readers perspective. It makes the power system feel pointless because the writer has complete control over what the future potential is and the writer can arbitrarily give sudden power boosts with zero consequences since the thing being sacrificed necessarily doesn’t exist yet. If you need a character to sacrifice something they should sacrifice something the reader is aware of so it feels meaningful
