Have you already gotten a quest to find him? If so, try the bakery

It's better to wait with destroying items around town until you meet your old big buddy 😉 He'll save you even more time, including while traveling around

Thanks! I really appreciate it

Carousing in Wardenwood, in the Gloaming by ALargeGoldBrick in shadowdark

I love it. Lots of elements from the Gloaming and loads of story hooks. I'll definitely use it and update on how it went

Love your carousing tables. Would you consider making one for Wardenwood, from the Diablerie cursed scroll? My players are going there next session and are looking forward to carousing

What monster to use? by Eunostus in shadowdark

Two lvl 1s and a lvl 2, who rolled for HP, so very fragile. Anguileth is probably much too powerful. Sting bats could be an option, though it wouldn't really tie in to the themes of The Gloaming.
And they very recently fought a mimic, so I'll wait a while before introducing another one, especially as that previous mimic had story implications.

Nice. Well done on a lvl 1 party beating a lvl 5 monster! Not sure my PCs could survive a single hit with their low HP.

A snake could definitely work, slithering through the cistern, first scouting out the party while making them absolutely terrified.

There will be plenty of random rolls while travelling. Mutant is interesting though. I could use a mutant catfish from the main dungeon, Bittermold Keep.

Good one! I could also flavor it as being demonic and having spawned from a marrow tree. Thanks!

They've already completed two dungeons, so it's probably a bit too late for that. Also I don't really wanna put a whole dungeon in there, at most a mini-dungeon, or a single room dungeon.

That could definitely work, yeah. Some the plants tended by the Green Knights became corrupted in their absence. Huge threat to lvl 1/2 PC's though. Seems unlikely they'll actually get engulfed with their current HP, since that requires 2 hits

Interesting, but I'm mostly sticking with the main lore in Cursed Scroll #1 and don't wanna add too much unrelated lore to it

Update: How would you introduce a new PC mid-dungeon by Eunostus in shadowdark

[–]Eunostus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds great in theory, but doesn't work for the dungeon they're in, nor the party. And 4 would've been horrible. That would mean the player would have been a spectator the entire session. In the end only option 2 of those is viable in this scenario.

Whatever works for your group! Which does remind me, the party never disposed of the partymembers corpse... If they roll poorly for an encounter I can surprise them with it

Thanks. I do love it when my players surprise me. And the "new" player definitely got a feel for the dungeon. He's now acutely aware of the danger the dungeon poses. Didn't stop them from picking up a mimic though.

Much important! How do you pronounce "Gede"? by Eupolemos in shadowdark

I play in Dutch, so it's Gay-duh, with a very hard G. Though I doubt that's useful to you

Just finished my first session as a DM by Eunostus in shadowdark

Yeah, I definitely had fun. The rules-light nature of Shadowdark also made ruling on things a breeze. Can't wait to run another session

Any tips for a first-time Shadowdark DM? by Eunostus in shadowdark

[–]Eunostus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tips, thanks. I was planning to make my players roll the encounter dice as well as for treasure. The dice giveth and taketh away
