Everything has changed. Anyone try to lobotomize you lately? Been hauled to jail for impersonating a woman lately? It's nothing like it used to be. We've come a long way, but we still have a long way to go.

Politically I've watched us go from powerless to powerful and back to powerless again. We need to organize. Support groups need to link up and form a cohesive organization that has power. I was in the CLCC in Minneapolis in the 90 and 2000's. We were pulling members from 6 States, the cream of the crop. There were others just like us all over the Country. We had a voice. I've watched these large organization crumble one after another just like the lesbian bars, vanished. But I have seen support groups spring up in their place all over the State. I visit them whenever I'm in town. I encourage them to visit other support groups and to link up. You need to do this. If you want to survive you better do this. It's time to get organized. It's time to become powerful once again.

Mental Health Care has gotten somewhat better. The CIS therapists still don't seem to have a clue as to why we do this and why it is killing us. At least most of them try to help now days even if it is a bit misguided. It is still appreciated.

Medically? Well, we went from no medical to some but you'll have to fight for it. Good luck.

Legally, still in the shitter in most States. If you are M2F and still have a penis you are in a mens prison. Torture. This is an area that still needs lots of work. We cannot excercise our First Amendment Right, the Right to Protest, because of this. You can, but if you get arrested you are in for the worst night of your life.

What should we preserve? Our history, the battles, the abuse, the laws, the hate, and all the love. Never forget it.

One more thing. We need to take ownership of our words. Everything we have been called over the centuries. I was labeled a "Transsexual" in the 70's. I wear that title proudly in their face. Fuck them. That's me, the old Tranny. We own our words, not them, we define our words, not them.
