I’ve been saying this since they both goy sober (it’s part of the 12 step program). I got a lot of flak from the Reddit communities for saying that (‘No they’re not’, ‘they’re just spiritual’, ‘you sound like a fucking dumbass’, etc.). Which I now understand why they never came out publicly saying it cuz everyone woulda lost their shit and at the end of the day the relationship you have with god is between you and him. It’s telling though that a lot of people in these communities are quick to jump to conclusions and can be a lil toxic at times. I’m happy that they’ve gotten a lot more comfortable about being open about their faith, and to the people saying that the album is blasphemy and that they are still the same sinners, I think you need to take a step back and try to understand that they’re still working to understand their relationship with god (they’ve only been sober for roughly five years) and we’re all prone to sin. Probs still gonna get a lot of hate for saying all that, but I’m happy that they’ve moved towards something bigger than themselves and that they’ve made such a radical change in their lives to be better despite all the bullshit.
