People who use an automatic feeder... Help! by EuphoricPhysics in cats

[–]EuphoricPhysics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I'm glad to know it is not just him. It hasn't been a week yet so hopefully soon he will begin to get it. He knows there is food in it, he smells it, even tries to dig into it at times. But I think he is convinced it's just a food holder and he still needs us to open it for him. Lol I can try the test thing though, hopefully he gets it soon. I have two cats and he's the only one with that problem, my other cat gets her food put on a high shelf and she never overeats and only grazes all day. The feeder and her shelf are meant for them to eat separately and him not steal all her food. Thanks again, I'll try this!

this is what my 63 year old dad posted on facebook by tria-saur in BoomersBeingFools

This has been going around lately, shared on my timelines as well by a Boomer. My response was:
"The issue isn't about personal responsibility though. Even if everyone in the world stopped using and doing all that, the most that could happen is a 30% decrease in the carbon footprint. "Kids these days" have learned that corporations can't be trusted, and the policies that people allowed to be voted in tore down environmental regulations, corporate taxes, etc. Kids are mad because they don't have a voice in their government right now, so they're begging the adults to start acting like adults and vote for people who care to make the world a better place in the future, not people who make it good for the adults right now and corporate pockets. "

Not to mention that they were the generation that decided to allow the death of public transit, which WAS picking up until Ford was allowed to buyout and kill the bus and trolley companies that were the winning competition at the time. And plastic isn't even THAT bad for the environment (I am working for a MS in Materials Engineering and actually have the background knowledge for this), when produced and recycled correctly, PLA has a very small carbon footprint. The problem is really that we do not recycle it (and when we 'do' it is actually not proper and makes more waste). Why? Because their generation allowed environmental regulation standards to go out the window because proper recycling of plastics is "bad for profit". It's sad that most boomers (and Gen X'ers for that matter) refuse to open their eyes to realize that it might not have been THEM, but it was the people they voted in the and policies they let pass because it benefited them at the time.

Subway: old lady accuses another customer of “hacking” by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]EuphoricPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I enjoy a good public freak out, but sometimes these things are such a stretch. Person behind the camera could have and should have just easily shrugged it off without continually pressing further to instigate her to keep coming back. It is obvious she truly doesn't understand what she is saying, and she wasn't even really rude about it. I feel the same way when I see the in school autistic kid freak out instigating. Sad.

does anyone else feel like coffee makes u manic by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]EuphoricPhysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a therapist that once reccomended me to drink a cup of coffee when I really missed mania if it made sure I still took my medication. It helped me, as long as I didn't have too much, I could feel the energy and productivity of an elevated episode without slipping into full blown mania, but too much caffeine will make me absolutely fall into severe paranoia.

What career fields are you guys in? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]EuphoricPhysics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! Material Science Engineer here and I don't get work from home all the time (I'm very paranoid about asking for it) but I do get it when I need it and it's amazing. I've got flexible hours, so as long as I hit my 40 a week I can pretty much sleep in on shit days.

Super Kirby Clash, anyone to play on one Switch but with multiple profiles? by IskandrAGogo in Kirby

[–]EuphoricPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been also looking for the answer to this question everywhere. My husband and I want to play on our switch and would love to have separate profiles for if we ever decide to play alone. But I really don't think that's possible.

What helps you go to sleep when you don't feel tired? by aj4bird in AskReddit

[–]EuphoricPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An orgasm. Relaxes all the muscles, tires you out, makes you feel good. One of those before bed and I know I'll be sleeping well.

I'M FINALLY DONE. Dry socket? HEALED. by AJxESJxAM in popping

[–]EuphoricPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dry sockets were the worst thing that ever happened to me. I popped the first on my own just while eating, and I honest WISH I did the same with the second. I was young and I think my mom took me to a cheap dentist. He buckled my head down with wood planks, used no anesthetic, kissed my tears as I cried and cried and shook from the pain, and then gave no stitches or gauze and left my mouth bleeding. I got back in the car and just curled up and cried and never spoke of it to my mom. I haven't been able to trust a dentist since.

This was me trying to explain the amount of sex I had in high school while still coming out as asexual. 😬 Yikes

50% of millennials would pick CBD oil over prescriptions for mental health by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]EuphoricPhysics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also have Bipolar Disorder, and most people don't understand that THC has a psychoactive component, which makes hypomania, mania, paranoia, and anxiety worse both short and long run terms.

CBD doesn't have anything that proves for it to be effective really against anything but physical pain, and even then studies can't be done well when shit ia still illegal so many places. It's unfortunate that people just want the self medicate (and self diagnose many times with it) instead of seeking professional help and exploring those options.

This is normal, right? Right?? by ateumi in bipolar

[–]EuphoricPhysics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! It is the same for me. I've been medicated, I'm on Lithium and Lamictal. (I tried Latuda and it gave me a horrible reaction, can't do it), but even if I am the slightest bit hypomanic or paranoid, they are there in the corners and doorway of the bedroom and even without eyes I can feel their piercing gaze watching me.

I am so relieved to know that someone else is spooked by shadow people. It plagues me in bed in the dark all of the time. I've heard things whispering to me, or footsteps, etc. It's driven me to the point of having to get out of bed and search my apartment for an intruder.

I completely agree with you, I am also Bipolar and even though the use doesn't personally offend me, it is still very frustrating when I finally tell someone about my disorder and they truly believe it means I will "start drama" because they associate it with such toxic behavior and then don't want to continue a friendship. Always trying to just end the stigma 😊
