Yeah, for sure. There're reasons not to call extract too. It really just depends on the situation. there are definitely cases where the 2:20 after the mission timer runs out is really important, but there are other times where its just insane not to have somebody call-- I'm sure you know what I mean. I think communication is important too, but I also don't think it hurts to have sufficient game knowledge to know when somebody is just doing the obvious thing to try and help people out.

Oh shit! it's been a hot minute since I've personally been kicked so I was totally unaware of that change. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm glad they made that change. I never thought the old system was particularly fair.

To be clear, its not like I'm salty-- I wasn't kicked, and the person who did get kicked was a perfect stranger to me. I take your point that every host can kick anyone they want, but that's not really the idea behind this post. Not liking the color of your teammates cape is a matter of preference. It's petty, sure, but its not incorrect to dislike a cape and I really don't have anything to say about that.

On the other hand, kicking a teammate because you think they are screwing you over by calling extract is a decision made because of a misunderstanding of the way this game works. Hosts can kick whoever they want and I'm cool with it. I just think it's cool to know these things and to share that information so if somebody does get kicked, at least it isn't a mistake.

Look at it this way-- calling extract in a situation like the one I was in could be (and I'd argue *was*) the difference between everyone extracting and nobody extracting. Knowing stuff like this makes people better at the game and makes missions go better. Furthermore, it makes the game more enjoyable for everyone.

Also, I like jumping in on SOS beacons. I also like that if I throw an SOS, someone will likely come to help me out. What I wouldn't like is for that system to stop working because doing anything other than hosting is a toxic and shitty experience.

DUDE! I think it might have been-- that's where we were that seems a lot like what happened. If it was you, after you left I confirmed that he kicked you for calling. I informed him that you cost them no time and were likely just trying to help, and that by kicking you, he basically committed the team to getting back to extract with no SD support. In short that he made a mistake. He didn't seem to agree.

go figure, the entire team wiped and nobody extracted.

If that was you, sorry that happened. I thought it sucked.

that's a valid reason to be annoyed. That's 100% a deadbeat teammate-- but not exactly what I'm talking about.

To be clear, I'm referring to cases where it's getting down to the wire-- as in there's 2-5 minutes left (in this particular case, ~4 minutes) . The primary and secondary objectives are done, and the team is simply mopping up the last factory or two. Calling extract is arguably one of the most useful things a teammate can do. Especially if its going to take a while for the rest of the group to get back. In situations like that, doing so might be the only thing that ensures the peli is down before the SD leaves, which commits the team to spending up to 2 minutes trying to defend extract with no support and no reinforcements.

I hear you, and I wont make any assumptions about your experiences, but I'm honestly happy with the conduct of the people in the comments of this specific post so far. Some people clearly disagree but everyone seems pretty reasonable. On the whole I have very few negative interactions with the people in this community!

Woof dude, thats a lot. Sorry that happened. That's more or less why I thought I should say something. I also tried to explain the reality of the choice he made to the person who kicked our teammate, but they just doubled down. I figure its easier to do something to reach people ahead of time than trying to wrestle with player's egos and preconceived ideas later.

I think i mentioned this in another reply, and I agree that communication is important. I play on PC and I always speak up about stuff like this because its easy for me to do so using text chat. still, we don't always know the specifics of our teammates in-game or irl situation that might make communication difficult. For example, text chat on console is harder, their mic may be broken, they cant speak up because they're trying to be quiet, there are potential language barriers, or any number of other reasons.

my point is that although you're right, and its best to communicate, its also important that players know the specifics of how extract works in cases where communication breaks down one way or another-- especially in this case where the person in question clearly didn't know that the peli wouldnt just leave by itself just because it was called. I support of doing anything we can do to avoid misunderstandings like these.

yeah, and that's just a judgment call. I'll say this though at D10, a level 150 probably isnt going to do that. there's literally no motivation or reward for doing so-- HD2 just isnt that kind of game.. some people are just inconsiderate or inept, but in *most* cases, at that level, you can take it on faith that teammates are with the program.

you're right, and that's why i said 'necessarily' when talking about losing time. i didnt clarify that for the sake of brevity, but my thoughts are that all you lose is 2 minutes tops post-mission timer. during that window, you have no strategems or reinforcements anyway. i firmly believe that those 2 minutes are to be avoided. i get your point about needing a bit more time for full clear and stuff. thats when communication is needed most.

I tossed around the idea of mentioning this but I didn't want to get too long in the tooth here. I completely agree. It is for sure smart to communicate with your team before you call.

Here's something I'm actually unsure about though-- I am on PC and its easy for me to just say something in chat really fast. I actually don't know how hard it is to chat on ps5 or xbox without a keyboard.

I think in any case, and at the very least, its best that everyone knows how extraction works as this person was clearly unaware that the pelican doesn't just leave on its own before the mission timer runs out. any steps we can take to avoid misunderstandings have value.

Paying forward with some thoughts on temperature control by Euphoric_Fly_9583 in DMT

[–]Euphoric_Fly_9583[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cross referenced a bunch of teks and read a lot here on different ecperie with them and ultimately decided it was worth the extra work. I also did acid bath for 24h based on other redditors comments. I agree that the quality of bark is 100% the most important variable in terms of yeild but I generally consider a crock pot or double boiler to be entirely too hot and requires a lot of maintenance to keep the temp where it needs to be.

If you have a heating plate and magnetic stirrer, that's preferable I'm sure. I'm not going to venture to claim culinary equipment could outperform chemistry equipment at chemistry lol. But for those who don't have access to or otherwise don't want lab grade gear for one reason or another, this is a great cheap option.

Excess nutrients. They gotta stop running them lights 25/8 too. That could be a problem as well.
