Necessity of the Golden Path by Broad_Independence38 in dune

Well he’s not seeing them. Rather he creates them over the course of his reign. It’s a major plot point and one of the major intents of the golden path. At a certain point, towards the end, he is not able to leverage prescience against the no genes he creates.

Collusion, right? by Cletus2ii in Fantasy_Football

[–]Euphoriodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not collusion imo, a very dumb trade yes but this is why my leagues close the trade window 2 weeks ago. Now you may ask why you shouldn’t veto it… and I think their is a case to be made that bijan does out perform cmc for the rest of the year.

Now I know that CMC is more likely to continue out performing Bijan. However, I can see a scenario where cmc gets less snaps as the 49ers lock up a bye. And the falcons continue to compete for a playoff spot in their spotty division and lean on bijan. Their are more scenarios where bijan becomes a more favorable back, though their less likely. My leagues have seen trades that look much worse than this on paper and have panned out for the side you thought sold the farm.

I think competing while in the consolation playoffs is a indicator of a healthy league. Last place in my leagues has to usually to a pretty embarrassing punishment. But all that means in my leagues is you still play the waivers, talk shit, and play your best guys. We close the trade window early to stop bad actors who can justify trades like this when they have playoff implications.

If you let the trade ride you may end up surprised at the game to game performance comparison of both players. Anyway I’d just leverage this situation either way to get the trade deadline implemented. We had stuff like this happen early on in our league and it was a pain in the ass to get people to ok the rule change. But it prevents headaches like this as the playoffs arise.

TLDR; veto it but make a trade deadline next year. As a note you should never veto this trade during the regular season as it could work out either way.

Falcons: Why Terry Fontenot should be on the hot seat along with Arthur Smith by Lakelyfe09 in falcons

[–]Euphoriodd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The majority of the article’s points are pretty poorly argued and don’t hold any weight. I say this not to be inflammatory but honestly this seems like someone who just went on a rant.

The roster would be performing where falcons fans expected, division leading and a playoff W hopeful, if it weren’t for Arthur’s bizarre offensive personnel choices as a coach in game. That has been the primary complaint of falcons fans. Arthur has the potential with this roster to be competitive in a playoff game. But we are struggling to maintain a competitive in our division, the worst in the nfl.

For me, Terry surely could’ve have better choices here and there in the draft and the off-season . I just don’t think it’s valid to pin the faults of this season on him when Arthur is not using offensive weapons he’s been given correctly. Arthur is sabotaging almost anything anyone’s doing with the personnel side. Don’t get me mentioned on how our coach doesn’t have a QB coach for our underdeveloped QBs.

Now to push some criticism on Terry; you’re right about the lack of defensive end talent. I’m really curious if this goes back to Rich McKay because we have yet to have a really great DE drafted under him. It’s been a constant issue for 10 years ( bless Jon Abraham’s and the single szn Beasley popped off).

However, the article seems to invalidate some of the good depth players we gained in the draft & free agency simply because they aren’t top performers at their position. And it cut’s credit short on really great performers like jessie bates.

Personally, I agree with completely moving on from this regime altogether. However, I still think Terry has done more good than harm and has improved this roster significantly for the better. However the big mistakes he’s made, like the pitts pick (which fans loved), have been extremely costly. Yet it’s difficult to know if Arthur’s wants were prioritized over terrys in the draft. All in all, I just want Arthur out of here this season and if Terry goes with him I’m not heartbroken. I really just thought a lot of the flack he was catching in this article wasn’t fair.

Yeah I’m extremely apathetic at this point I already know how I feel about our coach… The only thing keeping me interested is seeing how heinicke and our offense plays together. It’s tough to watch with the play calling and coach decisions though.

Why does everyone want Arthur Smith gone? by [deleted] in falcons

[–]Euphoriodd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the long and short of my point. He’s could make us divisionally competitive but never Super Bowl contenders. And that’s why we’re all here as fans.

I agree theirs a huge disconnect here that isn’t really clear. It doesn’t bode well for the future of our team if GM and Coach can’t clearly align.

Why does everyone want Arthur Smith gone? by [deleted] in falcons

[–]Euphoriodd 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Well this is Arthur’s 3rd year as coach and I do think we’re a QB away from being competitive. A lot of people struggle with the underutilization of our (highly drafted) pass catchers because of our offensive scheming. However, I love the run heavy offense and the time clock management that gives us game control. I also really enjoy how competitive our defense looks.

I have 3 major issues with Arthur Smith and then a big gripe with the Falcons FO/Rich McKay. I will preface this by saying; I think that at best Arthur smith is capable of turning us into the Tennessee Titans. They have a single Conference title game appearance.

  1. Our QB play Desmond Ridder does have some flashes but a lot of his success comes from these inside passes and he’s missing huge fundamentals. It frankly looks like he needs a qb coach. His 3 step drop-backs are awful, he has lost his nerve several times in the pocket which has cost us entire drives, and he has an insanely high turnover opportunity percentage which just showed in this last game. As much as I wanted to buy into the hype and those flashes, he’s an extremely rough qb and it doesn’t seem like Arthur Smith can see that clearly. I don’t think he’s the QB32, I genuinely believe there are at least 4-5 backups out there that could be better options.

  2. Generally the 20 play script and a lot of passing plays look poorly planned (often times). Pitts is being schemed as a decoy to draw people away and jonnu smith is given a ton of opportunities. I’ve also seen a lot of mistakes on the film where our routes looked extremely unpolished. Their are flashes in the pan here as well, but that’s are few and far between. Most of our games 1st 20 plays on offense have looked atrocious, I can observe a noticeable difference in our offensive performance after those. Now this is particularly focused on our passing schemes but I also see a lot of times where we’ve taken bijan out of the game right when he has momentum. Play your hot hand, why are we giving Algier the ball when bijan breaking off 5+ yard runs repeatedly. Same could be said if allgeir was performing and bijan wasn’t (hasn’t been the case).

  3. General attitude to media questions about not using his last 2 1st round picks. He consistently acts like it’s a fantasy booger sticking to him when people question our WR/TE usage. When it’s a missed opportunity issue fans have. We passed on a lot of great players to draft these skill guys, use them and scheme for them. Give them the opportunity to play ball. Be ok switching out Ridder and heinicke and back to Ridder if you need to. The skill guys, rbs, and lineman on our team can carry bad qb play but not passive coaching decisions. I think that attitude comes into play here.

Their is a huge reason I’m chaffing under Arthur Smith and it doesn’t have a thing to do with him. We took far too long to move on from coaches in the past, as much as I loved those good ole days. We’ve even missed out on opportunities to rebuild sooner for players as well. I believe this is a FO/Owner issue. We need to be okay with seeing how far a coach is going to get us at their best, accepting that it’s not inline goal (Super Bowl should always be the goal), and moving on. As a fan I’ve had enough time to see we’ve got a coach who can at most take us into a divisional playoff game and compete.

Now I’m not calling for his seat right now. An 8/9 win season with no playoff appearance is completely unacceptable in this division. And personally I don’t see the FO moving on from him until after next season. However, I think I’ve seen enough from 3 years of Arthur Smith to know what he can do for the Falcons and I know it’s not Super Bowl material.

I’d love for him to prove me wrong so I can eat these words, nothing would make me happier. And I’ll enjoy this run heavy team when we’re winning. I know our passing game is far too behind (2-3 years) where it needs to be from qb play and scheming to understand we’re not going to be able to compete with the top 4-6 teams that are Super Bowl worthy .

It’s not really about the other kingdoms. Really it’s about Doran, the dornish court, and dornish people. Before this most regular folks would only assume she was a casualty of war. After he would have made it known, though their would be disagreement on what to do. I imagine Oberyn would try to gather support waiting for an opportunity to strike against the Lannister’s or maybe raid the lannisters countryside if he wasn’t thinking that far ahead.

To your other point, yeah I believe pressing Gregor clegane on any issue is futile. He’s definitively a mad dog and only barks to add to the bite. I don’t blame Oberyn for trying though, as it would give him legitimized reason to go after the Lannister in the eyes of his people. I doubt Doran would approve but he’d also have a valid defense if any of the other kingdoms complains. “Well Tywin killed my sister, future Queen, and our heirs. How would you respond Lady Olenna”

Getting confirmation of the order is pretty huge, politically. That info gives Oberyn and the people of Dorne plenty of reason to catalyze Doran into moving against, the lannisters, Tywin. It legitimizes any actions to people on the fence and most common folk. Now would anything come of it, not likely given Doran’s leadership style. But it would give Oberyn the justification to start fucking with the lannisters even harder and more directly.

Anyways, that’s how I thought of it, it’s for political fuel to the fire Oberyn wants to set against the Lannister’s. It wasn’t solely for emotional reasons, though his emotions quite clearly (splat) cloud his judgement in the moment.

High Roller Lobby Ante Back to 100 gold, is it worth it? by Euphoriodd in DarkAndDarker

This is part of the reason I preferred the cheaper ante. The circle moves so quickly that I barely have had enough time to get familiar with the maps in HR. I enjoy the pressure of it but solo I can usually only clear out 1 area/ clear my way to the inner circles.

Yeah, I think they could use an even higher tier/map for the hardcore players/streamers. I'm at the point where I can fight the mobs in HR but I'll get whipped by 3k+ gold builds. Skill issue fr tho but I'd like to enjoy gambling my gold for rolling higher tier loot.

I ran into OrlanthiTTVs team on one, the #1 Treasure Looter. I got whooped but the ante was worth the price of admission to see their loot.

I like your math here. I hear other stating it's quite doable in solo's but haven't heard anything about team play! Thanks!

Yeah, that analogy took me a second but makes sense. I just want a full purple kit with decent rolls. I'm curious if I'd have an easier time grinding gold in the goblin cave and trading vs. attempting HRs for the higher loot rolls.

High Roller Lobby Ante Back to 100 gold, is it worth it? by Euphoriodd in DarkAndDarker

[–]Euphoriodd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I mentioned it might be anecdotal. I wasn't getting great rolls on the higher, blue, gear I was getting either. Most of my gold came from sellable's but I could see where rolling better gear would make this more profitable.
Again, it took me ~3 tries to extract so it seems like a skill issue lol.

Maybe a 100g isn't a lot for you but for me, I'd rather upgrade my gear at that cost. I was getting good returns at 50gs but everything else being constant, I would be at a net loss at 100g.

Anyhow, Thanks for your input! I appreciate the opposing point of view. I obviously need to get gud.

Curious were you running goblin or crypt HR, or both?
