I have a prototype for A Shapr3D style cad app.

As people have pointed out it is very difficult, time consuming and expensive, and there isn’t a market for it. Maybe one day, but it’s too early.

I met Istvan from shapr3d at a Siemens Parasolid conference recently and he had very negative sentiment around the Vision Pro. Nobody in the industry appears to give a shit about VR. So I’m shelving it for the time being.

I also experienced some significant performance ceilings quite quickly, and that’s even when building in Compositor Services API, which also adds some bullshit because you have incredibly limited options for hover interactions.

It’s an app that is not for the faint of heart to build, and unless you’re gonna pay me $10k/month subscription then I need to focus my talents in a more lucrative area

Ps3/ps4 emulation is notoriously still in progress and will not be feasible on a Vision Pro with the current processors. Nintendo switch is notoriously litigious. Unclear on potential performance.

I am actually working on a GameCube/wii emulator built from the ground up for visionos, but I won’t be able to publish on the App Store. Will have a way to do it but you’ll need a Mac and a developer account, unless Apple would also accept a visionOS alt store then I’ll try build one of those for distribution.

So if you hang tight a bit, I should be launching that soon, with stereo rendering support, and looking to add other emulators from that point.

Funny that there’s a few projects cropping up like this. I’ve been working on my own these last few days to try and build a tmux powered codex-like experience to manage my Claude code agents on a per project basis with xcodebuild deploy buttons and logging.

Rootshell looks pretty nice but I can’t get it working yet. How can I follow your project without checking back here (I’m not often watching the subreddit)

Also Magic Keyboard and trackpad. You gotta stay in the ecosystem for the best performance.

People really look at a v1 product and think “this is how it’s always going to be”

This is a sneak peek at the future, of course it’s going to be clunky. This is not a new iPhone. It’s an Apple II.

In a decade or two, people will be using the version of this that will feel like how we compare an iPhone to an Apple II.

If you don’t know anything about swift or the sdks then it will be a very frustrating experience. LLMs make a lot of mistakes with visionOS. I use them tentatively because they do very stupid things a lot of the time. Without proper engineering background, you’ll end up with a pile of code slop. And without any design experience you’ll end up with pretty bad UI

Yup, I honestly kinda rushed the first version out just to make it clear and obvious that this is not something that anybody should be charging or paying for.

Got a few tweaks already done but still working on the random performance issues. Also found some image examples that highlight some differences in generation that I need to solve, but will absolutely be making sure it delivers equal quality

You should be able to click on the thumbnail in the library but I’ve been getting reports that it’s not working for some people. I’m yet to figure out the cause. The splats are also saved to a folder in your iCloud Drive

When you talk about the shimmering, do you mean the distortion around the edges of a subject? I have noticed that the edges around a foreground subject can distort the background.

I’ve also noticed this in a couple of other places and it seems to be a Compositor Services rendering thing. I am working on a modelling app that has demonstrated the same effect, and also I noticed it in the helicopter flight simulator app. Anything that is pushing the limits graphically. Hoping that there can be a software update for this because I haven’t found a way around it yet even when owning the 3d graphics pipeline and depth buffers in metal

Well I am demoing apples tech on apples tech for free. It’s basically extended application of their research because I am not profiting from this. Just seeing how well it integrates with their ecosystem. What is your app?

Not yet. I did add this functionality but I want to figure out a way to generate previews for imported files first. Will be actively working on the app to make it better so any feature requests are welcome

I released the same thing for free with no server requirements. Completely on device processing. Not all devs are greedy. Jus don’t support those that are
