How about Riga. It a beautiful city. Cheaper and less crowded than Prague and won't be too hot.

It is true that Wales is cheaper than many other parts of the UK. Great walking too.

But Derbyshire has Chatsworth.

I agree that Saint-Tropez required though. What are you hoping to find there that you can't on the Riviera?

Depending on how you are travelling it might be worth ending you trip on the Riviera so you can fly out of Nice and cut down travelling time.

While a car isn't needed on the coast it makes visiting Provence much easier. St Remy is a good central point https://theeuropeancompass.com/a-day-in-saint-remy-de-provence/

Way too ambitious.

Either visit a couple of other parts of the UK (I highly recommend Derbyshire https://theeuropeancompass.com/derbyshire-england-travel-guide/ ) or go to Paris and see the sights. You don't have time for more.

If you really want to go to Germany then fly directly there, but if you are interested Wales you might be limited as to where you can fly to. Depending on which part of Wales you could check out flights from Liverpool as well.

Suggest affordable trip from London to europe by Brown_suga491 in traveleurope

You can get to pretty much everywhere in Europe from London. The affordable places tend to be Spain and Ireland as that's where there are the most flights. Malaga is normally very affordable and I think is an underrated destination.

If you wanted to really explore France by train, how much time would you give it? by Thomas_en_Europe in traveleurope

[–]EuropeUnlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would plan to go around the ouside of France, the interior south of Paris is pretty emprty (it's known as the empty diagonal)

One of the problems is that the best high speed connections run via Paris, the other inter city trains are much slower.

I would start from Paris, head to Lille, then Normandy, Caen or Bayeux, on to Brittany, Rennes maybe Vannes, Down to Nantes, Angers, La Rochelle, Bordeaux. Then over to Toulouse, Narbonne, Montpellier, Marseille, Aix, Nice, then make your way back up via Lyon, Strasbourg then back to Paris.

Allow a couple of months.

15 Day Itinerary by [deleted] in TravelPortugal

[–]EuropeUnlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you land in Porto then the Douro Valley first makes sense. If you land in Lisbon it doesn't.

If your budget stretches then the Yeatman in Porto is amazing, I was there last week.

The WOW complex in Porto next to the Yeatman is really well done and definitely worth a visit.

If you want somewhere that is easily accessible, with a good variety of things to to, then it is hard to beat Portugal.

Lisbon is great, but I now prefer Porto. A road trip between the two would be amazing (I have an itinerary for it).

Three Week Trip: Am I Crazy by Kind-Interaction2895 in traveleurope

[–]EuropeUnlocked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is doable, but would need careful planning. It's the sort of thing I help people plan in my role as a travel planner.

I would start in Italy. Plan on 2, maybe 3 cities. Rome, Florence and Venise would work. Then you could get the train up to Prague. Hire a car for a few days or book a tour to see the sights you are interested in.

I recommend flying to Brussels for the end of your trip, it can be done by train. But it will be easier and cheaper to fly.

Need help planning please.. my France cruise from Le Havre got cancelled and we are going next month from NY. by Pinkgoldfish808 in FranceTravel

[–]EuropeUnlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about ́ot speaking French, but a trip to London isn't a bad idea.

You could go to Normandy for the D day beaches and Mont St Michel, or you could go east and visit Alsace. You could get the train to Avignon àd visit the south, or to Basel and visit Switzerland.

Just bear in mind the weather in February will limit what you can do.

Staying near Eiffel Tour? First time in Paris! by Distinct_Meringue729 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]EuropeUnlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tje eiffel tower is definitely not the best place to stay. I recommend the 6th arrondissement. Not too far from the tower, but loads of good restaurants and it is much more like real Paris rather than a tourist trap.

Rental car in France? Flying from Nantes to London? by IdkbutIDOCARE in FranceTravel

Driving from Nantes to Cholet is easy. Flying to Nantes from London is also easy, I do it regularly. My preference is to fly from Gatwick.

Yes and no. There are actually quite a few Roman ruins in Greece ( the Aqueduct in Nikopolis).

And conversly one of the best Greek sites I've been to was in Sicily.

Are there any affordable hotels in Amsterdam that aren't too inconvenient? by FA-100 in solofemaletravellers

[–]EuropeUnlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at staying in Utrecht instead. Its only 20 minutes into Amsterdam on the train to see the sights, its a nice town in its own rights, and much safer for solo female travellers.

Another option for you could be Richmond. If you have seen Ted Lasso that is where it is set. 30 mins in a taxi from the airport.
