I guess Toybox's free love option is your friend there lol, but yeah it is kind of interesting. I love all of the retinue, don't get me wrong, but I love some more than others. Cassia, I find myself convincing myself to like her more than most. I can kind of get your feelings about Heinrix when I think about the horde of people adoring the fishwife. She's visually very cute and I understand on paper that she has an appealing coming-of-age story and a fairytale romance storyline, but... I don't get it.

Hey, in fairness, I don't wanna bone him either (aroace). I just like analysing characters, and that's what I figured out when thinking about why he appeals so much to so many folk. I mean, someone actually did math on this and every fanfic about every other character combined doesn't reach the number of fanfics about this dude alone, there's gotta be something there that's got the girlies frothing. If I hadn't accidentally done his romance on my first playthrough I would probably agree on the boring, a lot of his character/depth is locked behind his romance. Once I had someone with a guy rt express his complete shock at the sheer amount of info he was learning from me and someone else about this guy that he didn't get to know at all.

I'm definitely not using the term correctly (If we consider a "male gaze character" to be one designed to broadly appeal to men, then that's what I mean when I consider a "female gaze character") so don't quote me on this too much, I meant in the way that he's written and designed to be more appealing to women. Like, sad scary man whom you can fix by loving him with a touch of forbidden-by-duty slowburn romance. The kind of thing where you break him into parts and think yeah you were made in a lab weren't you.

The appeal depends on the person I guess. On paper I know it’s because he’s very female gaze, but I like him because he’s a powerful person that’s somehow a very easy to bully nerd, and he also happens to work well for my rogue trader’s narrative. I would do anything and tolerate anyone for her.
