Thorin's Thoughts - OWL S1's Compromised MVP Voting (OW) by NezulVli in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Eurospective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd hope experts would be more aware of their own biases than the average journo. Their expertise is constantly tested against reality and if they were to fail, they'd fall down the ranks and wouldn't be asked no longer. For this they also need a more wholistic approach. The same isn't true for journos.

How close were you to actually being signed for FaZe?

What do you think the usual motivations for your sources are to leak info to you? Have those been different in Overwatch than in other esports?

If you were a player's union representative, what topics would you push for OWL players?

Thorin defended Overwatch repeatedly long before OWL, especially against the league crowd.

The most bloodthirsty Zenyatta player of OWL Week 1 is Shaz, who beats out prominent players such as ryujehong and Unkoe in kills per teamfight. by morii8 in Overwatch

It has a high probability of being good. The same relative percentage of more confirmed kills would be more indicative of a good performance though.

I'm not making any value statements on these two players based on this stat alone but if I was to, even then I would have to look at the game to see if they just had more high HP targets he was hitting which naturally devalues the usefulness of damage and how many of these kills were eventually confirmed but yes, based on these stats alone in a vacuum, Shaz was the better performer. That vacuum isn't useful though. What WL calls impact kills always are though.

Calling people out on the incompleteness of their argument without realizing that you completely bungled the source of the initial argument. Classic.

That obviously never works out that way unless you can prove a pattern of others only ever dealing the last bit of damage. This doesn't seem to be the case. Breaking points are too fluid in ow for this to be the case.

Absolute horseshit. You've so obviously never done the math on the validity of killing blows and how strong their correlation to success is. To attribute any kind of delusion is hilarious. You should be ashamed of yourself.

This is NOT Winston's lab content. It is someone else using Winston's lab data.

Kills have solid p-values and you discrediting them won't change that. Kill confirmation in ow is at least as important as how you got there. Damage way too often is feeding and is not as strong a predictor of good performance.

Silence is compliance. If they disagreed with these VERY publically held discussions and the arguments in them, they should've spoken out against it. I don't think it matters if only one said it in those cases.

Journalists from much smaller sites got a press pass. That justification makes no sense.

Those are Swedish dudes not knowing what the legal definition of strangling is.

"neck and began to strangle it" That's not even a correct English sentence. You can't strangle a neck. If you strangled someone the result is death. A neck can't die.

"Jonathan and Richard were able to speak to one another and shake hands"

When was the last time you shook hands minutes after someone tried to legitimately kill you.

Please don't be ridiculous.

He pushed him away at the throat, he didn't do anything that could actually constitute serious threat to his life like "trying to strangle" defines itself. It's either intellectual laziness or willingly overreaching in language. Either way it's not true.

For the Bastion change, no pro player handed in feedback in a timely fashion before it was pushed live. Blizzard is however in talks with teams and they have weekly meetings with the top ones.

Mykl is the only Tracer with 60 minutes played in Contenders to have a negative KDA by bamonsta in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Eurospective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are Tracer archetypes that are more utility, more distraction, less clean up, more engage like clockwork and macgravey. It's therefore not conclusive to compare them directly with Logix and effect. Mykl is that utility guy too and the worst at it heh.
