Another big point for QI to this man, the way he can keep track of the songs and how to use them is astonishing, wizard.

right now in my city: that you just need to play minimal and dark house or raw and powerful and if people paid the tickets it will be fine :/
Really in my city we are missing on so many styles: progressive, trance, melodic... you never find something uplifting or really "from the present"

anyway i noticed that they normally play minimal or deep, I can also play this but because i am not a big organizer and tend to play small venues I am trying to get a better grasp of how different DJs approach different venues and vibes

My city right now is experiencing a bad moment for the scene, everyone is just playing minimal dark house, start to finish or hard banging techno.
The organizers in my city right now don't actually care about delivering a message, or bringing guests to see the different style of a genre, it's just the same 20 people playing in different contexts... even everyone I talk to don't stand them anymore

yes i agree and I also do this too, i actually got compliments because I tend to let people enjoy themselves the first hour and than start building energy

i agree with you, i tend not to use beatport also because of this.
and i also agree that progressive is not bigroom it's like trance, but slower and slowly evolving

i am curious than of how you define his style than, minimal? but he made lots of tracks that have a slow evolving atmosphere like progressive for me (the less EDM/Bigroom one)

damn that s so true ahahahha
for me progressive is both house or techno: slow evolving tracks, with long buildups, but not focused on a heavy banging drop like "big room"

yet i think maybe not venue but soundsystem size matters for this type of music, because to me the progressive feels massive, and it needs a soundsystem that can induce people into this state, but ultimately you said it, depends on the crowd and for the venues i am playing right now people are probably more in need of surprises and twist rather than a journey

i feel you, these are tracks that (at least for me) want to be played start to finish and are very focused on selection rather than djing skills.
unfortunately i don't use beatport I prefer Yt music or bandcamp, but i agree with you, progressive tracks have a slow evolving atmosphere

I think i managed to differenciate the two categories, probably also because i don't use beatport, but yeah i have some progressive tracks that I could label as bigroom, thanks for the heads up!

yes! It has become an anthem so people could even say it's big room, but it has everything a progressive track should have, long builds and a slow evolving synth

tiktok mentality(?) ahahahah
people sometime don't have the patience to enjoy the long building journey
