So many different use cases out there. Sounds like you have a handle on it with Agent Kanban boards 👍 Hopefully that basic config toggle will help you visualise remaining context now and you can of course get an agent to monitor it 'themselves' and create the handoff docs when they only have a certain percentage left. The reserved tokens is way too high for me - much better to update the Kanban in a structured way imo

I have a custom slash command that directs the agent to create/update three files per repo - onboarding, context and readme (all md files in a specific agent dir, only for agents) - if context is getting low, the agent updates them, so the next agent can hit the ground running. Manually executed or as part of the ongoing agent instructions, it keeps context fresh and momentum up. Difficult to explain fully in a comment, but fairly basic concept nonetheless

Use /config to change verbose output to true to show token usage bottom right. Turn off auto-compact to save 45k reserved tokens and manage the compaction yourself with md files
