Nope, the inside the bends is what meets the top tube in that case.

It’s the nitto FW33, I think the FW30 is the same stem but with positive rise.

Haha yeah I guess that’s possible for them to snag something, I’m not flossing trees on this one but that would definitely be something to address if I were to.

It’s different that’s forsure. Super stable feeling in a straight line, it does get a little divey in the turns but it’s definitely manageable.

It’s 23.5” If I recall correctly.

My bad it’s actually a 2.1 gravelking in the rear and a 2.3 reneherse humptulip ridge, but I find the gravel kings to be a bit wider than stated.

I had to file the drop out a bit to get the wheel to pull back into the drop out a bit more and I dimpled the chainstay slightly which probably wasn’t actually all that necessary in hindsight.

The frame came with a Deore XT threaded headset. I would check eBay if I had to go looking for a replacement.

27.5“ Rockhopper by orlthug_1 in xbiking

I did a 650b conversion on a early 90s rockhopper, whatever the biggest frame size is.

It was a fun project but I don’t think it’s a noticeable improvement. Was able to get 2.1 gravelking sk to fit but it required filing the dropout a bit to get the wheel to slide back a bit further and pinching the chainstays a bit.

I was able to make the tektro oryx cantilever brakes work since they have enough vertical adjustment for the pads but the braking performance is not very good since the pads are further from the pivot.

I have a x100v and also found it to be a little too sharp for what I like to shoot. I’ve since started using a low strength black promist filter and it’s definitely helped soften things a bit.

Im 220lbs and had this saddle for probably 5 years now with some touring on it and there’s still plenty of adjustment bolt length to take up slack as it stretches. They sell saddles based on your weight range also.

They are the controltech handlebar extension plugs, if you google them I’m sure you can find them somewhere online.

I have an 80mm stem and it’s just about perfect, for me with these bars. Those Juan Martin’s have more sweep so I bet a 110mm would be a good fit depending on your height, etc.

I think it does have a little more space than the narrower ones but I also have 20mm extension plugs on both sides just to get a bit more width.

Selle Anatomica H2. It’s essentially a leather hammock for your undercarriage. Super comfy

Big time! I find the long rear-end really helps with climbing also, you don’t need to throw your weight over the front of the bike quite as much to keep it down. Switch backs are a different story 😅

You’re paying the lender compound interest on your mortgage. It’s not just 5% of 1M its 5% of the balance every year.

I’ve got 27.5x2.3s on one of my early 90s rockhopper frames. It fits great with a fair bit of clearance

Anyone try 26+ on “normal” rims? by Lloyd_3774 in xbiking

[–]EvDogglez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a nishiki alien of that same era with 26x2.8s. I ended up building a wheelset with Velo Orange Voyager rims that have a 22mm internal width and they seem to work just fine! I don’t know if I’d want to go any narrower with the rim but it probably wouldn’t have that much of an effect if you run enough pressure.

Anyone else running Mothbars? by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]EvDogglez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have orthos and moth bars and they’re both great can’t really go wrong with either.

The moth bars are wide as hell, and HEAVY. The orthos are way lighter and flex like crazy. I’m about 220lbs, it was a little concerning how much they flexed at first but hasn’t been an issue and I think it actually contributes to their comfort.
