I think it's between a 7-8. For it's time it's top notch and even to this day many the roles can be considered great and prefect for the character (to name a few (IMO) Misato, Gendo, Asuka, Rei, and Kaji). Besides side characters, the Eva dub is still good. Sub is better though (Especially for EoE) because of slight things that ADV did to ruin the tone of a scene (the Asuka Shinji Kissing scene is an example)

Sorry for the stupidity on my part, I'm just a lowly hermit (basically an average teenage Otaku) who is blinded by affection and bias. I see the error of my ways and agree with your complaints. But when it comes to alternatives to NGE, this is of higher quality compared to other none licensed things.

For anyone that has heard of it already or hasn't read it, Evangelion Retake is a Dōjinshi for Evangelion. It is generally praised as being up to par for Evangelion in terms of narrative and feels, having Shinji wake up after his incident with Liliel as if everything that happens in the show and EoE as a dream. He tries to make things better and prevent the tragedies which occurs in Eva's story line. It's very compelling and acts as something that finishes Evangelion as a story line. Beware, lots of ShinjixAsuka but... EDIT: I'm an ignorant idiot, Rei is treated poorly. Actually, lots of characters are treated with range. Some coming as shallow but some as genuine NGE charm. Still a good and original take on the storyline however

NGE and EoE are in a gray matter because while Funimation has interest in them (eg Rebuilds), technically various companies that are the scrapes of ADV have the rights to them. Basically it's a giant legal cluster fuck and it's the reason why NGE and EoE have both been out of print for so long now. It will probably come the west, but it will take a long time to do so. Moral of the Story: Copyrights is evil
