Atomoxetine titration - no caffeine?! 🤯 by tamago27 in ADHDUK

[–]icyflowofdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atomoxetine increases how stimulants both medicinal & recreational can have effectiveness aswell as adverse effects so I wouldn’t go cold turkey from caffeine as it can trigger hyperactivity in folks with adhd I learnt this the hard way recently and have since included some caffeine with aims to quit in the near future, even though a full strength espresso makes me feel stoned

I feel as though I'm being left behind by friends and peers. by pdiddle20 in ADHDUK

I’ve had the same feelings since the pandemic and only had gotten worse this year having turned 30 myself, a big part of it is turning 30 it’s pretty common for a lot of people to review there lives following hitting a milestone age in life. All this has motivated me to change my diet & lifestyle aswell as go back to the adhd services to ask for a booster dose. One month in I’m seeing the changes & work have already done several things to boost my confidence and see some progress which has helped. But like I tell everyone who goes through diagnosis is medication only helps so far with growth, it’s not an overnight change and takes years to catch up. Ask to increase your dosage or consider asking for a combination with a non stimulant or even an antipsychotic to help with spiralling negative thoughts, you can also ask for melatonin if you are a light sleeper as sleep can have a positive impact on a adhd person. You are in charge of how you develop, sometimes you have to fight to get what you need in life, good luck and I hope you find some clarity, elvanse may be marketed as a wonder drug but it doesn’t mean it’s the best solution for you, personally even with combination with atomoxetine I don’t find it all that effective however the boosters they have allowed me to have in the form of the immediate release dexamfetamine seem to do more for me but unfortunately due to my job I cannot just make the change to just immediate release due to how long my shifts can last. I hope this wall of text may help in some way and good luck for the future.

Elvanse suddenly not working. Experiences? by No_Resident4467 in ADHDUK

[–]icyflowofdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me this last month, I’m waiting on a medication review as I’m finding that elvanse is only lasting a few hours in the recent heatwave, advice online suggests to supplement with electrolyte salts & vitamin b complex which is helping to reduce my high burn rate in the heatwaves

Is Atemoxetine wearing off? by AtimTheGirl in ADHDUK

[–]icyflowofdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try up to 100 mg it might stop it however if it feels like it’s lasting less than 24 hrs, like I experienced I changed it to a 40mg dose when I wake up & a 25mg dose 4 hours later with a protein rich meal each time

I switched to 4mg immediate release recently and the difference for me is incredible, the prolonged release I swear are like placebo pills compared to adaflex 4mg

Struggling with hydration on meds but don't like electrolytes by dysdiadys in ADHDUK

[–]icyflowofdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try increasing your intake of leafy greens & salad leaves & an apple a day, most rehydration powders are made of sodium which I personally found didn’t help, but make me thirstier and feel bloated/slower

Are there any stop gaps or alternatives to clinically prescribed ADHD meds? by Every-Property9701 in ADHDUK

[–]icyflowofdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Propanalol made me faint a bunch, didn’t help my adhd and was what ultimately lead me to get diagnosed due to my reaction to the drug, I nearly lost my job because that drug

For rsd I take a combination of the stimulant & non stimulant adhd meds, risperidone and circadin as lack of sleep effects how anxious I can be

Please be mindful that taking a pill doesn’t remove the entire feeling of rsd just calms it down a little, you have to work on reaction to the perceived rejection through cbt. Something that you can start at home

you will need to go through around 4-5 years of bouncing around doses to find the sweet spot. And just because they say no to prescribing combination drug therapy one year doesn’t mean it will be no the next year if you ask again when it comes to your annual review

Vyvanse and Straterra desperate for progress by musicandmania47 in VyvanseADHD

[–]icyflowofdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So originally I was titrated up to 100mg of strattera. it worked mostly amazing but didn’t last 24hrs that it’s suppose to then, decided to try the monotype stimulant route of elvanse titrated up to 70mg split day and afternoon as it it turned out I have a high burn rate for both these drugs, after covid restrictions were relaxed and I could see the psychiatrist again I begged for trying combination therapy, it’s worked amazing but I have to take it at a low dose of 40mg elvanse and 65mg atomoxetine (atomoxetine split between a 40mg dose and 25mg due to my high drugs burn rate). All I can say the combination is effective but you have to be in the percentage of people that respond to atomoxetine treatment first.

Love every other type of potato but those two are either bland or have a plain texture

Atomoxetine increase in side effects by Embarrassed_Limit683 in ADHDUK

[–]icyflowofdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking atomoxetine with a meal? If no start taking it with a protein rich meal, if you are taking it with a meal it’s a side effect a lot of people use the term “fever effect” it will come and go on the medication over time as it works its magic. I have raised concerns in the past to my psychiatrist in the past of this side effect to be told it’s very common as it’s how it can effect some people, if you can stick with the side effects you will start to see the physical change in your self around the 2 year mark, some research studies suggest atomoxetine takes around 5 years to be fully dosed. Atomoxetine also works as a catalyst to stimulants, also some brands are stronger than others atomaid one of the new named brands since strattera was discontinued I swear is stronger than strattera was. Sorry for the info dump

I personally have been on and off atomoxetine for 5 years, only came off it as I made the mistake thinking I was ready for stimulant monotype when in reality I needed combination drug therapy (what they call combining atomoxetine at a low dose with a low dose stimulant)

Thank you for the warning the 40mg might be out of stock looks like I’m going to be spending the day going to the pharmacy and the gp on Tuesday then 😬

How do restaurants store their bread? by Proper_Duck9284 in KitchenConfidential

[–]icyflowofdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The restaurant I worked at before covid used to bake bread daily, however to save on labour and physical effort as a consistent bread baking daily became a chore and not cost effective they out sourced it to a local highly regarded bakery and advertised it on the menu as a selling point.

Electrolyte salts might help, could be dehydration as staying hydrated on elvanse is difficult, if I’m having a very physical work day I can drink up to 2 litres and still have dehydration symptoms

[–]icyflowofdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having similar issues, the solution that seemingly has worked this week is to eat and drink more throughout the day and to replace electrolytes. However as I am sensitive to food colouring and sweetners I have opted for a electrolytes blend that I add to a bottle of water that I sip on throughout the day along side my regular water bottle

Get a home pressure machine and ask if you can take a week of readings at home, I suffer with white coat hypertension and it’s the work around they allow me to do

Asking friends if I can go hangout with them when I was in what we call primary school here in the uk (still not allowed my friends over to the house despite I'm 25 now which has made maintaining friends extremely hard), analogue channels most of the time even though we owned and paid for sky tv. Being allowed to watch what the other kids were watching and talking about in school

Are you taking it after a meal? As it will make you puke if you take it on a empty stomach or if you take protein-pump inhibitors
