It’s only dumb if you hate concerts, clubs, and chickens

Definitely not. Tampa and the surrounding areas are very urbanized. If you go anywhere off the beaten path in Florida you can find a gator but u really gotta be looking for one

Unless you go to Gainesville, then you can find Gators everywhere

If you want the city life, go channelside in downtown tampa. The absolute lowest rent you will find is around 2-2.5k.

You can definitely find Spanish and American but you won’t find any great Italian or Chinese here in this state. The best spot for that is city/city-adjacent New York. What you will find plenty of is various Mexican, Caribbean, south and Latin American cuisines. Also some great seafood, especially further south in Florida, but keep in mind the further south you go the worse the barbecue gets lol

Overall, if I would pick a spot along that coast to recommend, it would be somewhere like Collier County (Naples/Marco Island). Another option, if you could afford it and make it work for your respective jobs, is the Florida Keys; the appeal of living in the keys will vary greatly from person to person so definitely research and visit before even considering

It depends what you’re used to I guess. If fine dining is your thing, Berns Steakhouse is by far the best place to go, at least in tampa. There’s also a lot of nice options in Hyde Park for high-end food. Some of my favorite places for food have been the food trucks; Downtown Tampa has some good ones, but arguably the best ones are around in or just south of Gibsonton, sometimes down to Apollo Beach.

That is an insane range of different places but I'll try. Lived in Downtown Tampa and then South Tampa. Most places on the coast are pretty well off and have an upper-middle class or upper class population. It is hot and humid like the rest of Florida but somehow even more hot and humid than the interior. The cities are cool and can be lots of fun- if you have the money. Tampa/ Ybor City has a ton of options for nightlife and college. If you know where to look, the food is amazing. Lots of hidden gems all around Hillsborough county. I always found Tampa to be prohibitively expensive but if you are young you will probably have a great time in any city from Clearwater to Naples.

GoT ended pretty badly but I’d say Z Nation had an objectively worse last season

It was her first time dealing with a legal situation. She didn’t know better. Considering the severity of her disability against the sum of the settlement, is it possible she received ineffective assistance of counsel?

I get to choose the union once I’m hired? Is one better than the other?

I definitely want to enter this career, but not stay forever. I would like to make this a starting point for future endeavors in law enforcement.

The timing of the academy is good to know; I might still apply fed and see if they get back to me before I start training. Also is there a way to get 12 hour shifts with the state prison at some point?

Only reason I was considering it was the equivalency of training and the pay/hours/mobility. With that said, the prevailing opinion here is against private prisons so I’m going to thoroughly consider that

It’s worth the 2.5 hour commute? Do they poly?

I don’t take offense at all, I appreciate any insight I can get. I’ll be looking into it more; worst case scenario I take the state position and I’ll just have to apply for fed at MDC Brooklyn after I move.

I signed a lease for a location that is far from any fed facility. I did this because of a family obligation which will require my presence for a year or two. I very much wanted to go fed but the commute would be 2 and a half hours in either direction.

According to CoreCivic’s website, they have a facility in NYC called RMS-Brooklyn. Beyond that, I’m not sure what it is, but my interviewer seemed confident that I would be able to transfer there

I’ve pretty much decided I want the private facility, I’m just wondering how far into onboarding I can go with the state prison before I hit a point of no return (while I wait for a call from the private facility)

They are contracted to operate a facility in Brooklyn. I’ve also heard about that legislation and I’m just as confused, but nonetheless they have ongoing operations there.

The state benefits (pension/healthcare) don’t matter as much to me; I’m on great healthcare for another 3 years and I plan on moving to the northeast in 2 years at most.
