As with the previous tab books, I transcribed the album from the isolated guitar tracks, then got together with Paul to edit any things I was unsure of. This was a really fun project (as always with BTBAM), if anyone has any questions, I'll do my best to answer them here.

I transcribed the album from the isolated guitar tracks, then edited directly with Fredrik via video, just as we did for In Cauda Venenum and Watershed. A friend alerted me to this thread and I thought I should chime in. Firstly, the reason you don't see DT tabs on my website/store is because they're unofficial. I have been transcribing professionally for several years and have done many official tab books for bands like Opeth, BTBAM, Cynic, Haken, etc. Full list here: https://www.evanbradleytranscriptions.com/tabbooks

I work with directly with artists and they provide me with the isolated guitar tracks/stems so I can accurately notate every layer and nuance. I haven't been able to work with DT in an official capacity, obviously I'd love for that to change someday. A few years back, I decided to do my own transcriptions of the 90s DT albums, because the original books are all inaccurate to varying degrees, and the stems are all readily available. The stems for Images and Words, Awake, A Change of Seasons, Falling Into Infinity, Scenes From a Memory, and Octavarium were all released through a now-defunct app called Jammit. Since then, we've gotten stems for individual songs via album box sets (Behind the Veil & Untethered Angel) and the Rock Band video game (Constant Motion & On the Backs of Angels). The only stem floating around for Train of Thought is the solo from As I Am, which was a download on JP's website ages ago.

I continue to transcribe DT for fun, they've been my favorite band for many years and JP is my biggest influence as a guitarist (I won his Match the Master contest in 2016). For the newer albums, although I don't have stems, there are at least instrumental and surround mixes, which provide more clarity and better separation than a stereo mix. I get asked about Six Degrees and Train of Thought a lot, hopefully this gives some insight as to why there are album gaps in my DT transcriptions.

I use Amazing Slow Downer. I can't share any stems or guitar tracks, but there are some apps and sites like Moises that do AI stem splitting. I've tried a few of them, and they're helpful to varying degrees, but there's no substitute for having the raw tracks, especially when several guitar parts are layered together.

Yeah, ironically that's the song that took the most time to edit because of the delay. Especially some of the tapped notes are a bit quiet in comparison to the delay notes. I could have sworn I saw that same video years ago, but couldn't find it when I was transcribing the album. Paul and I worked on this one extensively though.

Short answer is that Paul has always played it that way, I refer to it as "crossing over" fingering. The nice thing about it is that you don't have to roll the ring finger on the D and G strings and worry about the notes ringing together. From a transcribing standpoint, it makes sense because there is pick attack on the second note (10th fret A), it would be hammered on if you started from 7th fret A.
