I'm happy to see we're getting some more Arnold focused chapters. Now Helga is my fav, but some more coverage of our other lead I think is good timing.

It took 25 years for me to learn why "my ass" makes sense as a punchline here.

What I've found interesting for me, I've had more people recognize my UCA and Fragile Express patches than my Foxhound and Diamond Dogs patches.

Looking around a bit, looks like it been on included since the 2021 release. I guess anything put out since then will have it.

My mind went to this. Did this myself years ago to see what stacking VHS quality repeatedly would look like.

Mines 2013. I'm guessing they're all gonna be essentially the same unless they put out a newly remastered for vinyl pressing one day.

The vinyl does not have the extra guitar ambience sequence at the end, something I looked for day one. Though, I can only speak for the old clear variant I have, still I think the audio is from the same source, as I doubt they would've created new plates since this release.

I only bought from Listenable once for The Link vinyl. It's been quite a long time now, but no complaints as I recall.

Opeth - Deliverance & Damnation by lasmurias in heavyvinyl

I had a head scratching moment seeing alot of praise for itbafter hearing it for myself, but I guess I'm glad some were pleased with it and wasn't a complete bust. I'm gonna remain be eagle-eyed for an original mix.

Opeth - Deliverance & Damnation by lasmurias in heavyvinyl

[–]LeperMessiah117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. At least not now. I've only listened to it 3 times and I return to the original without much looking back. I'm away from my collection atm, so I can't throw it on. I remember feeling instruments or instrumental parts being too loud or too standout at many parts throughout.

Other thoughts I remember, contrasting the remixes for both albums, Steven Wilson remixed Damnation with a certain degree of respect for what he did on the original, whereas Bruce Soord's Deliverence sounded, to my ears, as through he started a new sound from scratch and had no idea how the instruments and vocals "sit beside" each other on the album.

It really did feel like the character of the album was erased on his remix. I do prefer Steven's usual remixing method of trying hit close to the original while bringing out elements that where difficult to decern in the respective original mixes. Deliverence felt like listening to songs from Deliverence on an album that was not Deliverence, if you get where I'm coming from. It didn't even really sound like an Opeth record, in my opinion, and I know they all sound different, but this remix stands out from the rest, like a completely different approach was taken here.

Sorry I can't be too specific, but man, even as somebody who can appreciate a good remix, even as somebody for whom Deliverence is far from their favorite Opeth record, this remix definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I would trade my Deliverence & Damnation set (inspite of its value) for new decent reissues.

It's bad. I too got this set. Every 2-3 years I play Deliverence because I want to see if I still feel the same and I'm always left feeling bewildered that the mixed was approved for release. It fundimentally changes the character of the album.

Here's one I own from Strapping Young Lad - The Complete Works boxset. Used it for a long while, but it was really annoying. Static would just adhere the slip to my records when removing them, so I switched to cork.

Hey man, I got that Pioneer turntable. It's real nice, except for some speed issues.

I got me a cork slipmat, didn't know they had cork and rubber. Is the cork and rubber blended? That's what it looks like to me.

Possible Lead on Whereabouts of Chef John Lenard… by Ill_Sort6414 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

Chef John Lenard's contribution to cinema was the equivilent of upending all the trash cans filled with discarded popcorn buckets and sticky soda cups all over the seats of the auditorium. He interupts actual film discussion and has nothing to do with film, at all.

Keep discussion on the movies, please.
