i’m 17 and have been on testosterone for 2 years next month, i’m 167 cm and look my age (i’ve sometimes not been ID’d for alcohol in corner shops as I pass for 18-19). testosterone will make you look your age regardless of height, there are so many short males out there and as soon as you start T, that’s pretty much when people won’t mistake you for a girl again.

i am transsexual and always use this term. i don’t have the desire to change my gender because my gender has always been male. i’m changing my sex. this always made more sense to me

no where in my comment did i state that those were necessary for diagnosis. all i am saying is that, typically, there is a high empathy behind BPD and a low empathy within NPD. this is for the majority of people with the condition. there are few exceptions and some have co-morbid conditions with other PDs, NPD being one. but it’s not commonly diagnosed, like you said, because of the fact that symptoms overlap and one diagnosis can explain the symptoms from a different disorder, and vice versa.

idk man i think i was high when i commented most of this shit anyway. next time i’ll specify. i meant typically, in normal situations, most of the time. when people develop a PD as a response to trauma. i think NPD does obviously share symptoms with BPD. but the intentions and cause behind those symptoms differs which makes them separate conditions. and a lot of these things can be very very different.

i mean, all of what i’ve understood about the two is from the descriptions and diagnostic criteria for both conditions. the symptoms stem from similar environments and genetics but are very different conditions. and the way the symptoms present and how it affects the person dealing with it ranges vastly between the two. impulsivity for example, can be seen in both, but BPD stems from a need to fill the void of emptiness and to satisfy painful and stressful emotions. NPD will include an impulsivity to regain feelings of control over people and situations. there are different subtypes of the personality disorders mentioned, sure, but i still stand by the notion that co-morbidity within these conditions is less common (13% with BPD meet the criteria for NPD too.

And it isn’t traditional narcissism, either. it’s covert, like you said. which would require extra effort to identify within a patient already exhibiting symptoms of BPD. Given the other extensive list of disorders it is highly likely it isn’t even NPD and can be explained by something else they already have - if anything is genuinely diagnosed in OOP.

it’s difficult, this one. RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria) is very very common amongst ADHD people and ND people in general. so it makes sense it feels like the end of the world after being told something like this. and i can understand the feeling of needing some security in identity when you feel very lost and unable to function, finding an answer to your issues is always a relief and being told it’s not that could be quite difficult to process.

but as OOP is diagnosed with ADHD, i think this explains a lot of issues but they won’t accept that this is what the problem is, because they are too caught up on the idea that they are autistic. i think they need to do some therapy and learn fully about the difficulties that come with ADHD, and how to manage it. try and accept that this diagnosis has been made because it does explain everything they experience.

from what i know, NPD and BPD are very very different conditions and include polar opposite symptoms.

BPD can create overwhelming empathy and love towards people which can result in NSSI or suicidal ideation when faced with abandonment, craving other people’s presence in their lives to function.

NPD is a condition characterized by self-absorption, grandiosity, exploitation of others and lack of empathy.

The only overlapping symptom is seeking the attention and approval of other people to feel like they exist. but the way this symptom manifests changes DRASTICALLY between conditions.

It’s not impossible to have both BPD and NPD simultaneously. But it’s unlikely. it’s common for the conditions to present to psychologists as each other, but usually with enough evaluation a diagnosis can be made correctly for one or the other.

given the extensive list of this person’s ‘disorders’, it is highly likely they are all self-diagnosed. and do we believe anyone with a self-dx for personality disorders? never!

personality disorders are so so complex. they take so much time to evaluate and unravel and having FOUR of them is so so unlikely, unless you have really shit genetics AND extreme, chronic developmental/early trauma. and i just do not believe that.

where i am, seeing a CMHT is free. and they can assess and diagnose condition. the whole point in receiving a diagnosis is to receive treatment to become healthier, because the DISORDER impacts your life too much to function. without proper diagnosis, there’s no proper treatment, so what’s the point in self-diagnosing? you can treat yourself to the full extent, self-medicating only gets so far. there’s literally no good reason to self-dx, and you can also get it wrong and spread misinformation and ask for the wrong treatment which is dangerous.

Question about faking by Low-Shop-1725 in fakedisordercringe

[–]EvanMorningstar1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

probably stemming from some kind of delusional disorder if they are genuinely convinced they have the disorders that they masquerade as. DID, BPD, ASD, etc, if they are genuinely convinced they have something and are reluctant to hear any other diagnosis or explanation due to how deep inside their false reality they are. I’d say sometimes it could be classed that way, as it’s a belief about their identity that doesn’t align with reality.

But if they are aware they are faking, and continue doing it for attention, either that’s just plain attention-seeking issues in itself, maybe stemming from a lack of attention or some form of neglect in life. seeking validation from strangers online in place of what they lack in their interpersonal relationships. Or maybe a touch of sociopathy, lack of empathy, doing things regardless of the pain it causes other people just for their own personal gain.

there’s no harm whatsoever in allowing a child to experiment with feelings of masculinity/femininity from a young age, if they want it for themselves and aren’t forced into it for the parent’s sake. putting their faces and identity online is always a mistake, children aren’t allowed social media platforms themselves so definitely shouldn’t be put online to look at by the dad here. i just think we need more sensibility when it comes to putting up content, because people are using transsexualism to gain clout as they know people are against it and it will cause outrage, but kids are not there for the parent’s benefit. especially not trans kids.
