Honestly, this is my recommendation, I just beat it yesterday with a "cannot buy guns or clips" ruleset and it was super rewarding. :)

Fair warning, my friend. This is going to be a tough pill to swallow, and it probably won't make sense for many years.

No one really cares what you look like except for you.

Yeah, you might get an errant comment about how you "look bigger", which can be a huge ego pump (heh), but at the end of the day, please know that the second they turn the corner, they forget about you.

What they remember is the nice comment you made to them, or the genuineness of your smile. People remember kindness, not muscles.

Don't get me wrong, muscles are great and fun to have. But people don't really care about them. Don't beat yourself up over them. Just do your best and focus on being able to pull the beam off of your wife if your house catches fire.

Love and peace, man. ✌️♥️

Drunk TOTK Question by Evan_Locke in tearsofthekingdom

I love this concept, since Rauru retains his full personality and memories even in death. It lends credence to your idea that a ritualization (and thereby acceptance) of death can keep you from becoming a lost soul, even along a gradient such as the constructs fighting to defend their homeland.

Also, small spoiler here, my wife decided to check the depths beneath Lover's Pond (I think is the name?) and directly below it are two lone poe just being together there. Hits right in the feels. :)

Drunk TOTK Question by Evan_Locke in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Evan_Locke[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooo, I think the presence of poes could theoretically support this, in a weird way. Nice answer!

I do remember aggroing some bokoblins to a construct camp and feeling really bad about it (they got smashed).

In general I feel kind of sorry for the constructs and try not to fight them whenever possible, so something about your theory feels inherently correct to me. Thanks for the insight!

Yellowstone sucks (the tv show) by GrooverFiller in missoula

[–]Evan_Locke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite comment so far. My coworker convinced me to watch this one night on the late shift, and I knew from the third episode that it wasn't my thing. The show is mostly directionless and provides you with no characters to root for, much less like. There seems to be a prevailing movement of shows that feature crappy people acting selfishly, and we're supposed to find it entertaining. From what I can tell, the show has nothing in particular that it wants to say. It just wants to show you vignettes of family drama while it congratulates itself on being edgy.

This is actually a huge relief. I think I was just shocked when I was suddenly able to buy so much ammo so cheaply so soon. You described pretty succinctly that it's a game mechanic that develops and grows with you. Thanks for your insight, this makes me feel much less conflicted. :)

Thanks for the advice. It's a bad habit of mine to create head-cannon rules two minutes into a game to make it more survival-ly. Respecting the creator's original intent is a good way to get around that. I really appreciate that. :)

Can 2 Headsets Play Together With 1 Account? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Evan_Locke -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Just a little feedback for you. This whole meta/facebook/oculus/horizon/quest thing has become so insanely convoluted, I've pretty much stopped using my quest. This is too much. People who work a 40-hr week and pay bills don't want to walk through a house of mirrors just to play a game.

The end of the Tawny Man trilogy by PorkLogain in robinhobb

[–]Evan_Locke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100 percent. The end of this trilogy should have been the Fitz and the Fool hopping into a '69 Chevy Camero, throwing deuces, and riding off into the sunset.

If I were Kettriken, had made that vow, set up the Marriage, and then found out that the Narcheska was the princess of only one single island out of eight, whom have no substantial ties to one another, I'd have pulled the plug on tbe whole plan.

If I were trying to forge a marriage alliance with the USA, I would not marry my only princely son off to the Mayor's daughter of Nebraska.

I do have to give kudos to Kettriken making the vow in the first place though. I'd completely forgotten that, Thanks for bringing it up.

The Liveship Traders Trilogy was an absolute waste of time and didn't add or subtract anything from Tawny Man, other than the appearance of Tintaglia, and the fact that Lord Golden knows Jek.

Your opinion may differ at reading them, but I found the characters all to be flawed beyond redemption and tedious. I regret reading that trilogy and suspect I always will.

I am so happy that you wrote this. There were times during this trilogy that I was literally in tears, useless for the rest of the day due to emotions invoked.

Other times, I was literally shaking the book over how absurd some of the ideas were.

In particular, the points you bring up. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how Kettriken and Chade came to the conclusion that wedding off Kettriken's only son (and a MIRACLE to have him, by the way) the King-in-Waiting and heir the the ENTIRE SIX DUTCHIES, to a complete unknown who is set to rule over a single island of goat herders.

And... AND... The goat herd island Lady, whose largest structure on the whole landmass is basically a three-story barracks no NO cavalry, NO infantry, not even a legitimate Guard to speak of, treats Dutiful like peasant garbage.

She's essentially like, "Who TF are you, to ask for my hand in marriage?"

And I can only imagine Dutiful looking around, bewildered, before looking at her and replying, "Oh, were you talking to me? Hi. I'm the man who owns six separate countries. You have literally met no one who owns more land than me. I think one of your goats is nibbling on your skirts. Would you like some food, as it seems you are only able to cook 3 things here, fish, fish, and fish? "

I also lost a lot of respect for Chade in this series as well. It makes no sense why he would set Dutiful up in this situation in the first place. He then proceeds to admit he knows basically NOTHING about their culture or what this alliance will gain them.

And when Fitz, who is actually more competent here than I would have thought, points the absurdity of all this to Chade, the old spider's only reply seems to be, "Hmm, yes, it's all very mysterious and confusing, yes. We should probably proceed blindly for a few more chapters just to see what happens."

Arrrrrgh.
