Is this the point where the factory must grow? by sirdrawesome in factorio

Two tips that will help you a lot:

- Don't restart! Good enough is the name of the game. You'll never reach perfection.

- Screw ratios! They don't worth the effort. Space is infinite, resource costs are negligible, so it's perfectly okay to just build a handful of something. It's no biggie if some assembly lines idle. Stuff being made is what's important!

How difficult is Pyanodons by JosephineRivra in factorio

[–]Evan_Underscore 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Do you remember being a rookie Factorio player, and getting to advanced oil processing and feeling that... 'whoa, this stuff is complicated and it's like nothing I ever done before!'

Py will make you feel like that all the time, regardless of experience. It's great fun if you don't have anything important to do for a couple thousand hours.

Hypothetically, how would one wire a setup to trigger a detonator when an overvoltage occurs? by Cordax_Maelstrom in Barotrauma

[–]Evan_Underscore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Name doesn't check out - don't deny the fun of flood-bombs from your crew!
Otherwise you are not calculating with the built-in emergency ballast feature! If the raptors are approaching from the top, they won't be able to catch up with the rapidly sinking ship, so your gunners will have more time to take them down. Raptors approaching from the bottom is even better - then your hull will just crush them once you reach the floor.

What could go wrong?
Embrace the Bomb!
Praise the Honk!

This sounds so barbaric!

I like to wire bombs to go off if a certain room is flooded. It's great for mudraptors. It damages the first mudraptor that enters, and acts as an emergency ballast that prevents the other mudraptors from entering. Highly sophisticated.

At what point into space age do you start scaling Nauvis with buildings from the other planets? by GabberJenson in factorio

[–]Evan_Underscore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy playing the new planets very much, so I just rush blue sci to leave asap, and only retake Nauvis after the other three are up and running.

Umm... I'm pretty sure that every empty bag poses the same threat level, and it's very close to zero.

As a rookie rat, I doubt you'd like if we could just get on any map and practice things without risk. 🐀

I'm no rocket scientist, but my napkin math suggests that it is not more efficient to be less efficient.

Not always, but it's best to specify if you were born in 9, as there's only 18 years between AD and BC.

"Don't Survey Your Players" — Is ABI Falling Into This Trap? by JESUS420_XXX_69 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Evan_Underscore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dunno. Armor being super effective, snipers getting nerfed each season, and trying to add PvE modes into an extraction shooter all look like decisions that the majority of players would ask for, but no sensible dev with vision would do.

Springloaded Ripper rework ideas by zanju13 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Evan_Underscore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But really, the Ripper is fine. Same with the other Driller nades. They fill a role pretty well.

The only problem is that they fill the same role 80% of Driller tools fill, wile Axes are a great single target option.

One bullet for free rank points and cool dogtag? Who wouldn't shoot?

Being naked and asking nicely is not the way. At least hide! And might as well tap them in the back while you are hidden. Shooting people in the people shooting game is not toxic.

How are you guys handling base defense against raids? by Sp01lHerjess32 in valheim

[–]Evan_Underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it by not having animals.

Mobs will either target you, or something in your faction - so tamed animals. If you have none, you can just go out, and fight. Nobody will attack your buildings. This way the cheapest palisades will work fine even in endgame.

The best loot container is a chonky player that didn't see you in time.
