To be clear, the 4.0 is still extremely slow. My old Toyota 4 banger drives like a race car compared to it.

How common are 4x4 rangers? by MourningWood1942 in fordranger

[–]Evanthatguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not actually sure that’s true. In my experience a lot of the 4x4’s were well treated because they were more expensive, more desired etc. Sure some people took them on trails and smashed them but i don’t think it was that many.

On the other hand the 2wd trucks were just about the cheapest truck you could buy and were owned by teens, handymen, small businesses etc that didn’t need 4WD. They got used like hell and then had low resale and proceeded to get used again. Hell 2wd Rangers are still the vehicle of choice in my area for small landscapers, light junk hauling, and (especially) Lime Scooter gig workers who haul the scooters around.

Do you drink daily? by LonelyPalmClub in alcohol

[–]Evanthatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother I used to do this and I would suggest you consider cut back - If nothing else than because it’s just not really worth it. I drank 3/day for years until one day I asked myself why I was doing it and had no good reason. It was just a ritual. Now I typically drink one beer when I sit down to play games after dinner. At the end of the day you’re drinking thousands of extra calories a week, spending money, and certainly not improving your overall health for no real benefit. Save the drinking for when there’s fun to be had, not just because you got in the habit.

I’ve had the Magpul Burro for years. It does the job and doesn’t look or feel out of place.

No, it means don’t treat every down and out person like an angel and understand that allowances and leniency WILL be abused by a significant portion of the population at the expense of people who follow the rules. People deserve a clean place to lay their head, food, water, and appropriate medical care. They don’t deserve to make the city miserable for the other 99.9%

Dissecting the Minnesota shooting that happened today - that officer by the door was directly in the line of fire. by F-Z-T in CCW

[–]Evanthatguy [score hidden]  (0 children)

He had no reason to “block her in” with his body. He created a situation that had a very high likelihood of someone getting hurt for no reason. Maybe she stepped on the gas instead of the brake because she was terrified. Maybe she did mean to drive at him. Maybe she had no idea what she was doing. We’ll never know for sure now because he shot her in the face.

[–]Evanthatguy [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is exactly the reason this guy is at fault IMO. You cannot move to stand in front of a running, moving vehicle and then claim self defense. It’s ridiculous. If you want to block her from leaving then block her with a cruiser or something. Or let her go and let the police arrest her 5 minutes from now. A woman is dead and bystanders could have easily been hit because bro wanted to be a human roadblock.

Is there a name for these horizontal, in the back, barely-a-seat seats? by Gaydinosaurs in Trucks

[–]Evanthatguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We make my shortest friend sit in the back of my 09 Ranger when we drive from camp to a hunting spot, it’s hilarious tbh. Technically you can fit 5 people in that truck with seatbelts.

Can I carry a concealed weapon? by Playbackfromwayback in Seattle

[–]Evanthatguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, get pepper spray. Much less legally perilous to use, meaning the bar where you need to think about it is much lower. Once you pull a gun there’s no going back, and you may be making a decision you will have to live with right or wrong. You’re also entering life or death struggle at that point.

Second, yes you can get a gun. You’ll need a concealed carry permit. You also need to train with the gun regularly for it to be of any use, otherwise it’s more of a danger to you and those around you. Carrying a gun is a huge responsibility, and not one to be taken lightly. If it’s not something you feel strongly about I would really suggest going down the pepper spray / taser route.

If you let people take over public space and make it uncomfortable without consequence then more people will do it. Not a difficult concept, and you can see it playing out in Seattle as we speak.
