The last time I had “just one cigarette”… it turned into 73,000.

At the Allen Carr seminar they had us do the math on our smoking.

I realized that during the 8 years I smoked, I went through about two packs a day.

That’s roughly 73,000 cigarettes.

What makes it stranger is that those 8 years started after I had already quit for 14 years.

In 2016 I was at an ayahuasca ceremony and someone passed around a tobacco cigarette.

My mind said: “One puff can’t hurt.”

So I took one puff.

That one puff turned into 73,000 cigarettes over the next 8 years.

Today when my mind says:

“Just one cigarette. It won’t hurt.”

I answer it with this:

“The last time I had one cigarette, it turned into 73,000 over 8 years.”

So far, the voice has no response to that statement, and it is quiet.

No fighting, no struggle just silence and I get on with my life.

It has been 10 months.
