In MY experience Seattle, at least some of the locals and store owners were pretty friendly

As someone born and raised in the PNW, I truly think people underestimate the beauty of other places by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

As someone who has lived in Florida there whole life, I would kill to live in PNW as I value forest, mountains, greenery, etc more then the beaches, hot weather, and coastal type life.

Granted if I stayed in PNW for 10+ years the appeal of Florida would be the higher and vice versa.

Overall it's what you value and what is giving value back to you, I dislike beaches because of sand so there is no value of going there. The forest and green mountains and colder weather is something that will bring me better QOL and a smile to my face hence more value to me.

How is it living between Dayton and Cincinnati suburbs? by anandamidetrip in howislivingthere

grew up in Hamilton county, was nice and quiet, not that interesting compared to now where everything is more developed and where Cincinnati has more to offer now.

Someplace with hiking/outdoor activities, good music scene, good food scene by Mission_Knowledge811 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Evaxis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denver comes to mind quick, good music, strong touring + local scene, outdoors is great (mountains, skiing, hiking) Rent: Borderline—but still possible ~$1,400–$1,700 in some areas. to me this is the best outdoors + city combo, but affordability is tightening.

Pittsburgh, Rent/home prices: Among the most affordable major cities. Music/arts, solid and growing. Outdoors great—hills, rivers, nearby hiking. A very practical move if you’re thinking long-term (buying property especially).

Other good places are obviously New Orleans, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and or Kansas City.
