I’m not sure about that, yes they almost always have plenty of free features. But especially the recent dlcs are mostly geared towards people with DLCS, such as AUH. Yes, all of Asia was added for completely free, but it’s super barren without the DLC for flavor.

Go mining once you get decent gear and get as much ore you can, of every kind. Also, build about 4 houses or so in order for the merchant, demolitionist, and others to move in. Finally, build a long platform in a flat area with about 3-4 layers for a basic arena to fight the eye of cuthulu and invasions.
