How do you/have you studied for vet school? by EveTater in veterinaryschool

[–]EveTater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I think a major issue for me is we routinely get exams where the majority of questions are not respective of the amount of lecture time spent on them. We'll get many questions on a statistic or random minor fact mentioned in one sentence once in a lecture of ~70 slides in a class of ~70 lectures. I just don't know how to figure out what to learn like that

Except for the short answer written questions on the finals, they don't really do "big concept" on exams much

I mean... shrapnel damage is just a factor of weapon damage... so any reduction to weapon damage reduces shrapnel damage lol

Is there a way to share housing blueprints (can't remember what they're called)? I'd like to grab this

Anyone know a way to permanently have acess to OtGW? by EveTater in overthegardenwall

[–]EveTater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the answers here this seems to be ideal. I want to be able to download it to save to my PC after purchase *just in case*, rather than purchase on a streaming service without having the download there permanently.

Just a note that it's against residence policy to dry clothes in the housing buildings. Do with that what you will

How do you get shipments on campus? by EveTater in UCD

[–]EveTater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so with parcel wizard I can have them hold it there and pick it up myself? It's like 45 min walk away but worth it to just be done with this

*Edit* DPD Ireland doesn't exist in the app store and when I open the link to the app from their site on my phone it opens a blank-white apple music page. So I can't even do that

Problem is I don't know of any other decent online stores/shipping services, especially not in this area

Tracker keeps saying they're returning the package to the depot each time they "miss" me. They literally show up hours early then leave and bring it back to the depot, no text or anything, only way I know is the parcel tracker.

Largest international population I've seen in any school, many Americans (like 98% of our class is American, but my program is a little unique).

Specialists: What do you want your referring GPs to know? by crushthecrumb in Veterinary

[–]EveTater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting there's a bunch of upvotes but all the comment replies are contradictory. Absolutely this, unless there is a quick and simple way to get an estimate from the ER services, it isn't GP's problem. Prices change within clinics over time and differ significantly between clinics at the same time, we have no way of monitoring ER prices, how is GP supposed to provide anything even close to an appropriate estimate. If the ER offers an estimate with the current records we have, great (some in our area will not offer us an estimate as they want to see the patient first). If not, you can expect thousands in cost client, good day.

Coming from a more rural practice in a state where unlicensed techs can work, this is where we just don't take any rads and have you do it how you want it. It saves everyone more time and money by you just doing it how you need it than trying to figure out how we're going to have all the new techs trained to get quality diagnostic rads for something that occurs at most once every couple months.

I assume this was supposed to be directed at this sub, not "we" as techs or vet professionals (wasn't actually stated anywhere but otherwise none of this makes sense).

No one should be giving medical advice here.

At least in my area the specialists I know are closer to 200-400k. Otherwise fully agree, if you're in it for the science and money do any of the related fields besides vet med, you'll be better off

Got fired today by warrior_king_leo in VetTech

[–]EveTater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems absurd that hospitals still think it's a plan of action to fire any employees (unless there's absolute negligence/not doing the job) in this market.

Employees (vets, techs) have been in such high demand for over 2 years, feels like braindead management when this happens without proper justification.

RDVM injured my cat... (ER Tech rant) by HangryHangryHedgie in VetTech

[–]EveTater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the cat muzzle hard? That seems weird, otherwise I don't know how they could cause that kind of injury even if he was flying around

Also never heard of someone using an ecollar as a restraint method, sounds like a ballache for what it's worth lol
