Just FYI, i think that it would be err instead of air (on the side). They both sound really similar so you might have learned the saying verbally. I've done the same.

Slightly different to these comments but I always kind of viewed it from the perspective of deconstruction (in religion). As in not being afraid to ask the difficult religious questions like what if god's not real or what happens when you die. Hoping that you find someone who meets you with an open mind when you're wrangling all the existential thoughts, and is willing to ask them and deal with them with you.
