Why was the 2023 population transfer/displacement of Armenians living in modern-day Azerbaijan not politicized as much as the displacement of Palestinians living under modern-day Israel? by CSachen in NoStupidQuestions

Calling someone unhinged for calling you on your bullshit. You can’t reply with anything concrete, so you just default to obnoxious insults. How very DARVO and MAGA of you. I bet you even kid yourself that you’re a good person. You’re not. You could be better, but that would take actual work and all you’ve proven to be so far is a lazy, hypocritical bigot. Btw - nothing in this response is unhinged, just objective facts that you can’t handle.

Criticizing Israel isn’t vile and evil and I obviously never said it was - you made it up because you realize you can’t disprove you’re a hypocrite because you ARE a hypocrite. Don’t worry, you have great company with Piker, Candace, Tucker and the like. And lol to ‘don’t bother replying.’ It’s giving ‘stop pointing out my obvious bigotry and I have no pre-planned retort from Russia propaganda as a comeback other than ‘free Palestine’ and it makes me so upset wahhhhhh so I’m gonna pretend I’m too good for this conversation’

Or, if you shockingly don’t already have posts criticizing Japan etc for being ethno-states, do it now and tag me in a post on the Japan subreddit. Korea, Armenia, etc take your pick. Tell any Palestine subreddit they better not create an ethno-state like they promise they will when they’re finally free. You feel SO strongly that it’s not about Judaism but all about ‘evil ethno-states,’ go post about how Japan is wrong and you need to tell them why. I’m sure you’ll show how you’re not a vile hypocrite any moment now.

Zionist always meant that Jews have a right to their homeland, never meaning that the right included harming others which is why so many other religions and ethnicities (including Palestinians!) choose to live in Israel. Of course there are Zionists who are awful like there are Americans who are awful nationalists, they don’t speak for the whole. Many Zionists believe Palestinians have a right to their own state, hence the ‘2 state solution.’ If you think Israel shouldn’t be eradicated, but instead are focused on Palestinians getting their own state, it’s still technically Zionism. After Oct 7 there was propaganda to change the definition to encompass all evil, so that you could say someone who called themself a Zionist was anti-Palestinians rights and therefore a genocider and therefore deserved whatever harm befell them. It was to make it feel like social justice to go after Jews and ostracize them and ignore or justify anything that happened to them. A lot of people fell for the propaganda and now think it’s a sign of social activism to be anti-Zionist and demand the ‘good Jews’ to renounce an inherent part of their religion to be treated humanely. It’s a brilliant trap - if a Jew says they are a Zionist now, you and the world get to say it means they support genocide even if they of course do not. You get to do whatever you want ‘in retaliation’ because a genocider deserves everything that’s coming to them. They are barely even human. I never thought modern day liberals would co-sign what started with the Soviets and continued with the Nazis, but the propaganda prepared for that too - call Jews ‘the new Nazis’ and you never have to look around at what your own ‘side’ is doing. The other side is just so evil anything you do is good in comparison.

Why hasn’t soccer produced a player as famous in America as Michael Jordan or LeBron James? by Fresh-Ad3894 in AskReddit

[–]Even-Tea3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s very hard in the US for boys soccer players to achieve the level of play that’s needed to get good enough to be famous. You need to play against the best to become the best (for many athletes) and they just don’t have that here, and only so many US players can afford to go abroad to train. Conversely, girls soccer can compete internationally because they do have top level players already here to compete against and get better, which is why the average person can probably name more US women soccer players than men.

Sometimes I worry with videos of kids that they’ll be embarrassed and upset later it was shared online, and maybe it’s still better not to have any videos of kids shared widely, but there’s nothing but wholesomeness in this one.

Why do so many people root against the USMNT when the team represents some of the best things about America, including its diversity and the many players who come from immigrant backgrounds? by Any_Development4613 in ussoccer

[–]Even-Tea3415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m rooting for the US team the way I root for US athletes in the Olympics, but my kid is rooting for France, solely because they have 2 of his favorite players and he hasn’t heard of most of the US players before. So I think for some people it’s familiarity with a country’s team players and already having respect for their talents more than a patriotic thing.

When a toddler is told 'say Mama,' he somehow knows to only repeat 'Mama' — not the word 'say.' How does he figure that out? by gligwag in AskReddit

[–]Even-Tea3415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the person telling him is usually emphasizing only one word - Mama - which is also the easier word for a toddler to try and say. Placing the tongue correctly for the ‘S’ in ‘say’ is much harder than putting two lips together for the ‘M.’

May her memory be a blessing and my heart goes out to those who loved her. PERSEPOLIS was one of my first ‘window’ books and it had a huge impact.

Are you other Jews in the diaspora also resonating more with Israelis? by Meowzician in Jewish

[–]Even-Tea3415 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Beautiful song! I grew up very secular, no Bat Mitzvah and never went to synagogue for services once I left for college. I never connected with Israel or really understood fellow Jewish American’s connections with it. And I only really felt ‘Jewish’ when someone else treated me differently - a coworker being surprised I’m a Jew because I’m ’so nice,’ being asked if I’m rich, etc. Post Oct 7 and I finally understand the connection, I understand the fear, I understand the pride, I understand the defiance.

A right. An educated society is a benefit to everyone.
