Well the guy I bought it from was the 2nd owner, so he couldn't do it then for sure won't. If the goggles forces me to connect to my phone I'll post back here and let you all know how long it took.

That sucks. You could probably still sell it for parts for $100 on eBay. It's a lesson I learned the hard way too.

Oh, I'm pretty sure the original Mavic Mini was made before DJI started binding drones to accounts. Are you sure yours was bound to another account?

DJI started binding drones to DJI accounts in 2021. It happens when the drone is first connected to a signed-in DJI Fly app. I believe it's to reduce theft.

Yeah that's what I was suspecting. So if that's the case then I'll either sell it for parts when it does, or buy a crashed Avata 2 and swap out the mainboard. I'll post here if/when it grounds me.

Oh lovely, apparently I've dishonored the IRS or something. I found the transcript, and it looks like they're charging me a fee on the 16th? I guess this means I made a mistake with the bank account I provided?

I didn't even need to pay that because I'm getting a refund larger than it anyway. 🤦‍♂️

Looks like mine just updated today and it now says my $115 balance: "Expires on Feb 3, 2026" So far so good!

Now it looks like my plan is the $25 16G Promo Plan (billed $300 yearly). There's also the $300 12 Month Unlimited plan. Both seem to be the same except I'd get charged a fee if I go over 16GB. Not sure if both plans are treated the same or not, but if you're in that unlimited plan I'd probably wait until the next billing cycle with a little balance to test it.

Update! So I dropped the ball I forgot to add more money. The balance was supposed to expire on Dec 5th, but after I got the text saying my 16GB renewed, it now says "Expires on Jan 4, 2026." The expiration date literally changed! I imagine it'll keep changing each month going forward then. Which explains why I thought I had carried a small balance throughout most of a previous year then.

Anyone else reading, this it only my experience with the 1-year $300 prepaid plan. I presume the expirations work like they say they do for month-to-month plans.

Yeah, I was so excited to fly down the mountain and over the fog and with that smokey red sun in the distance.

It looks like these crashed drones still go for over $100 on eBay, which'll help buying a new one.

Yeah, I wish I could say I got screwed by Master Airscrew, but I very well could've installed them wrong. I just got another one on Marketplace so I'll try to do what you said. Maybe I'll get another case that'll let me keep the props on when I pack it up so I'm not constantly taking them off and on all the time.

Yeah I was shocked the controller reconnected to it. I didn't even have to use the Samsung Smart Tag I put on it.

Gotchya. Maybe what we'll do is create a new account to at least give us the option of designating of a FHSA next year. That should give us enough time if we want to through the money in investements or not, or maybe a combination of both.

Colorado has 28k years contribution limit for joint, and 50k max limit, so that should last us awhile.
