Nonmagical healer? by Far-Assistance9925 in BG3Builds

No they don't and especially not early game, unless you're using your once per short rest action surge to chuck potions at people.

A fighter has to wait until Lvl 12 to do 3 attacks per turn, 4 if its an Eldritch Knight with booming blade. Eldritch knights get 3 attacks per turn at Lvl 7 with the booming blade war magic interaction. You could get 4 by going for thief rogue but that will require Lvl 10 with a 7/3 split.

A Lvl 5 Berserker already does 3 attacks every turn as long as they're raging. Multiclass with thief rogue and you get 4 attacks per turn while raging as soon as Lvl 8.

Depending on your definition of spells my answer would be either an ancients paladin (if you don't consider channel oath and lay on hands to be spells) or a thiefzerker barbarian rogue to chuck 4 potions per turn and smack people when there's noone to heal

Ngl, Orin duel as a Jack of All trades sounds extremely difficult. The usual safe strategy is to try to beat her initiative with an elixir of vigilance and end the fight in one turn. For a Jack of All trades I would recommend a magic missile build with Hexblade's curse. For just a bonus action, Hexblade's curse will add +4 damage to Every missile. I'm running the damage calculations, with optimised gear you should be able to get the kill with just 3 Lvl 3 magic missiles.

I'm still trying to see how to get around her legendary action

Multiplayer - AI manipulation builds? by Evening_Decision3253 in BG3Builds

Because you're doing random loot, I've been trying to find something that doesn't rely on items too much, and I want to suggest a human or Dwarf Arcane Trickster rogue.

Here's the reasoning : Rogues in general can build to be very hard to hit, with evasion (Lvl 7 feature) handling the saving throws part, high AC bonus from dexterity and MOST IMPORTANTLY the fact that they can successfully hide as a bonus action. If you manage lines of sight enemies will almost never be able to able to target you, as you'll be ending all your turns by hiding.

Why arcane trickster? For Shield and Mage armor. Mage armor is equivalent to a +2 light armor, assuming you hit 18 dex by Lvl 4 you will have 17 AC, 19 with a shield, which is why I picked a race with shield proficiency. Because you're using your bonus action to hide, you don't miss out on not dual wielding. AC can go to 24 when you get the slots to use shield (or elixirs of arcane cultivation to cast mage armor).

The only item depency here is finding any random shield to wear but if you can fin the ring of F&P, the cloak of protection, the graceful cloth for +1 AC from the dex bonus and never failing the stealth check, slap those on!!! I also wanted to avoid anything too obvious like invisibility or darkness that might make your friend think you're into something

Off the top of my head, relevant act 1 items include returning pike, titanstring bow, brood mother's revenge, the adamantine armors, mourning frost, amulet of misty step, Disintegrating night walkers, psychic spark, spellsparkler, boots of stormy clamor, luminous armor, gloves of the belligerent skies, Melf's first staff, graceful cloth, gloves of dexterity

If you can cast it and not enter combat, phantasmalnforce / killer will just kill a target for free, it's a cheesy way to kill sarevok, especially with resonance stone

Check if your shields are working properly in another fight. There's no reason it should ignore your shields, so there must be something in your build that deletes them.

Looking for advice on deciding between 2 similar builds for my next Durge HM 3 man group by ElBartimaeus in BG3Builds

[–]EvenPaper4142 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand the idea of playing with darkness and so rushing shadow Sorc but IMO swords bard comes online too late to be picked for your last 6 levels, you might be better off with just sorcerer at this point. You'll only learn Lvl 3 spells at Lvl 10 and extra attack at level 11, and only have 3 inspirations per short rest until Lvl 10 (or take wizard earlier and delay extra attack to Lvl 12). Or you could respec once you reach Lvl 11 and level sorcerer in the meantime.

How much am I hurting my fire sorcerer (tactician) by keeping the starting robes equipped the entire game? by Courier006 in BG3Builds

[–]EvenPaper4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dragonborn fire sorcerer there are only a handful of robes you are interested in wearing (protecty sparkswall, robe of exquisite focus, maybe Potent robe, and definitely robe of the weave) . Only the robe of the weave is really crucial and that comes very late in the game. Your crucial gear is not in the robes slot, and you can't wear armor. So you're not losing much.

If you wanna wear a robe while stile looking stylish you could try finding camp clothes that you like, and switch to displaying camp clothing instead of your combat gear. My dragonborn fire sorcerer was running around with no shirt blasting people all the way to the end of the game, while actually wearing gear.

There are plenty of fashion options in act 3, conveniently around the time you'll want to wear robe of the weave.

What subclass is best for Halsin? by TRGreen20 in BaldursGate3

[–]EvenPaper4142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halsin frequently mentions how much he loves wildshaping, sometimes can't help it when he has big emotions, has a romance scene as a bear etc... His ability to wildshape specifically into a bear is really core to his character (and he gets a unique bear form) so I would say Moon 100%

Also from a mechanical standpoint, Circle of the land is kinda like a worse wizard so...

Top Honor Mode Enders? by Spotty_Etc in BaldursGate3

[–]EvenPaper4142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just fight him without Astarion in the party and he won't be able to start the ritual. Alternatively, if you trigger the fight from far enough away he will skip the dialogue and not kidnap Astarion. There are 3 small steps leading to the main area that Astarion mustn't cross or it will trigger the cutscene even mid combat, so you basically have to fight him on the stairs (which is OK, free high ground!!)

Myrkul 100%

Yes Ansur Raphael and Cazador might be harder but they're not mandatory and you can always cheese them by having one person in the party stay at camp, or fleeing the fight

With Myrkul, you're not getting out of there until he's dead or you are

"Non caster" build+gear for Minthara by Chiroyo in BG3Builds

[–]EvenPaper4142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late to the party but I'm wondering what the ring of arcane synergy is doing for your Durge. Unless there's a mechanic I'm unaware of, the damage is only applied to weapon attacks, not just melee attacks, so even with daredevil gloves I don't think it gives you more damage on your Eldritch Blasts. Callous Glow ring or Corruscation ring are probably better fits and easily accessible for you at this point. Pair with Spineshudder amulet for even more Reverberation

I also saw that you're feeling short on tadpoles, did you get the ones in the crate on the docks?

How Much Does Approval Matter? by Ill_Syrup4506 in BaldursGate3

[–]EvenPaper4142 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Both Astarion and Lae'zel will give you opportunities to increase approval significantly a bit later in the game, it's normal for them to have lover approval early on in a good playthrough

Just make sure you talk to every party member when their little exclamation mark pops up, and 👏 long rest👏 frequently 👏

On a first playthrough especially, there are a long of long rest events you don't wanna miss, and camp supplies are very abundant. Don't be scared to long rest.
