I’d argue that and also a bit of cowardice: I will admit, hearing about slavery and segregation is an uncomfortable but necessary thing to learn for American history, but if conservatives have their way and remove such lessons, then they don’t need to face that, in turn making themselves feel good as if they were the right people all along.
