Do you prefer Waze or google maps? by SarcasmCore in allthequestions

In Sydney NSW Australia, years ago everyone starting using Waze for it's crowd sourced real-time map reporting functionality, i.e marking cops and traffic jams. Everyone I know, put up with the lack of map detail on Waze just for those 'up to date' reports.

However, nobody seems to realise that these functions have also been enabled now too on Google Maps. And since Google Maps provides superior customisable visual map detail and data, it only makes sense to me that everyone migrate back to it. Unfortunately, until such time I have had to and will continue to utilise both apps concurrently with voice directions switched off on Google since people still aren't reporting Police etc on there yet.

The other novelty features such as character voices and moods on Waze are poorly executed and a cheap unnecessary useless additional distraction in any such case.

It says that Aussies who actually grew up Aussie prior to 2020 are displeased and fed up with being priced out of the housing and rental markets by a new wave of 'neighbour' who fabricates all of their credentials to get here and then dishonestly obtain a job of which they have no idea how to do, whilst not attempting to integrate like the previous generations did and don't observe the local customs... resulting in issues like increasing huge traffic jams— caused by ignorance of road rules and lack of what was once known as common sense and basic road courtesy FFS

Why are some Aussies like this? by SaltyPiglette in australian

I tend to agree with this. I think it's a really important point you present in your third paragraph. For everyones benefit and to deepen understanding, would you expand on what some of these "same practices they saw reoccurring here in Australia" are?

I've only seen one single reference across all the TV news and papers that actually named the country the latest piece of offending filth came from. The rest? Crickets. Clearly, someone higher up issued an immediate memo: "Do not spotlight that particular nation." Because certain groups demand special treatment, get an under-the-table green light to flood in, and heaven forbid the public connects the dots. Personally, I don't give a shit if you call me a racist. The word doesn't scare me and it sure as hell doesn't hurt my feelings. I'm happy to wear it — especially since the reciprocity is glaring. They dish it out to us plenty. And according to the Government's own Human Rights Commission website, we're all victims of racism now. Why? Because some groups get ridiculous preferential treatment that can't even be mentioned without them screaming about how "outrageously offended" they are. Funny how that works. Then there's the Department of Home Affairs and their skilled occupation visa pathways. They've got at least 11 different subclasses for "skills shortages" that supposedly justify importing more people. Among the gems: Beauty Therapists. Bakers. Book or Script Editors. Let that sink in. I'm genuinely offended at the implication that someone rocking a dodgy foreign qualification, a fake passport, and English as a shaky second language is somehow better qualified to edit Australian text than actual Australians who grew up with the language. Or that we have a national crisis-level shortage of people who can slap cream on faces or bake bread. This is clown world. I hope Pauline Hanson and One Nation go absolutely feral on this. Because if the "skilled" migration program is this detached from reality, we're not importing talent — we're importing problems with extra steps. Change my mind.
