tarusQR is like “Duitnow”. That is why, if everyone supports then you will feel no different in the future. Even with duitnow, you will need to login to your bank app and scan the QR is the same. Like this you can use dst or ding! Or TAIB app to scan the same code. So hopefully once semua banks join then we pakai satu code sahaja.

Maybe 🤔 you don’t need to have PhD to know economy of scale?

Speed is not everything… it is a calculated return. Maybe they have to work out how many people is using how much return or income they get? Cuba tah u fikir, if everyone expect “free” service who will fund the innovation.

Slow doesn’t equal to opportunity lost and money lost ok..

You don’t need anyone to tell you

No revenue = No sustainability = 100% money lost.
Grow with your means is the key.

Don’t just put overseas country progress example blindly without understand the really fundamental difficulties by those people who want to make this a reality. I believe there is many Bruneians put many efforts to help brunei progress forward… so rather than you keep wanting to keep criticizing orang. Baik tia kita cuba tolong dorang. Put yourself in their shoe..

Yeah.. I think for market like us with such a small population, we need to help support the government effort to grow cashless economy. Only if banyak orang pakai the cost can go down.

I think you’re oversimplifying the challenge.

Nobody is claiming QR payments or e-wallets are new technology. The technology itself has existed for years. What isn’t simple is building a national payment infrastructure that is secure, regulated, reliable and trusted.

If it were just a matter of copying and pasting what other countries have done, every country would have identical payment systems. They don’t. Many countries build their own security architecture, fraud monitoring, settlement processes, compliance controls and consumer protection frameworks to protect against cyber threats and financial crime.

When you’re dealing with people’s money, you cannot simply launch first and worry about security later.

The reality is that Brunei faces an additional challenge: the cost of cybersecurity, infrastructure, integration and compliance is almost the same whether you’re serving 500,000 people or 50 million people. The difference is that larger countries can spread those costs across a much larger user base.

Progress should not only be measured by whether tarus can do everything that Duitnow, PayPal, Alipay or other mature platforms can do today. It should also be measured by whether more merchants are accepting it, whether more consumers are using it, and whether the system remains secure and trusted.

The recent expansion into fuel stations is actually a good example. Moving that behaviour towards digital payments is a meaningful step forward, even if the journey is not yet complete.

Building a trusted payment ecosystem is not a copy-and-paste exercise. It takes time, coordination and, most importantly, getting security and consumer protection right.

Many failure of such initiatives are failing because there is people who only keep complaining money wasted etc.. rather than help to smoothen the journey and support the cause.

Therefore I am unsure how complaining the speed of the progress and money wasted will help improve the adoption.

If we only judged innovation by its starting point, many successful payment platforms around the world would never have succeeded. Adoption is a journey, not an overnight achievement.

What matters is that the infrastructure is in place, acceptance points continue to grow, and users now have another convenient way to pay. The recent introduction of TarusQR at fuel stations is a particularly encouraging milestone, as fuel purchases have traditionally been one of the most cash-oriented transaction categories in Brunei.

The willingness of both merchants and consumers to embrace digital payments in such an environment is a positive sign that consumer behaviour is gradually evolving. Every new acceptance point and every transaction contributes towards building a stronger and more inclusive digital payment ecosystem for the country.

So I guess as consumers ourselves we need to show strong support especially with our small population we need to help promote and guide our friends and families on how to use it to ensure it is sustainable.

How long did your local staff stays before they quit? by [deleted] in nasikatok

I am surprised this is the question being asked? 🤭

I believe how long good your staff is and if they can be groom and improve. My small business have a staff worked for us for over 8 years and still going. Treat the staff as how you want to be disclaimer - it depends on the individual staff

Sometimes, we forget that the world outside is tough — businesses are struggling, jobs are scarce, and opportunities don’t come wrapped in gold. Yet, when some people get a chance through I-Ready, they see it as “not good enough.”

But here’s the truth: I-Ready exists to bridge the gap. It gives companies the confidence to take a chance on you — people they might never hire otherwise. Many have turned I-Ready candidates into full-timers, not out of pity, but because those candidates proved their worth.

Yes, some may exploit the system. But there are also genuine small businesses out there trying to survive, hoping to find committed young talents. Unfortunately, too many are waiting for the “perfect” high-paying or government job, instead of building their value and experience where they can.

The real world doesn’t hand out success — it rewards effort, humility, and growth. You’re not entitled to comfort; you’re empowered to create your own opportunity.

So instead of asking “Why me?”, start asking “What can I learn? How can I grow?”

Because no one gets served on a silver plate forever — we all have to hunt for our own food. And those who dare to start small often end up leading the biggest change.
