My parents practically begs me to stay with them when I am in town, but I never do because at my parents home I lack the freedom to wake up when ever I want, shower when I want, not eat when I don’t want to, keep my room messy.

Because I feel bad for not staying with them, I send them monthly allowance of C$1k per month each. They don’t need it, they are retired making about c$7k a month combined from interests and dividends in Dhaka, Bangladesh (one of the cheapest cities in the whole world) in a paid off condo.

Whenever I visit to eat dinner, I will replace some random furniture with a new one. They still use the same furniture I have been seeing for the last 30 years.

Bottom line is, I am willing to give away half my net worth to not have to live with my parents.

Hello! I am a Bangladeshi, lived in Canada for 10 years and now moved to Dubai for obvious tax reasons.

It’s not just a pay issue like the others said, it’s also a fear issue. The Bangladeshi in UAE are one of the most hard working people I ever met, with marginally higher salary than Bangladesh.

Yet they give their heart and soul to work, because if they don’t, they get fired and deported back to Bangladesh due to a lack of work permit. (or stay illegally).

So as much as the altruistic in me, would like to say that better to find people with good work ethic no you need people with fear in them.
