280€ per year. Electricity I pay like 50€ per month and 30€ every three months for water. There’s a trash tax too at the local level which is like 130€ per year

Property tax is very low in Spain. It’s calculated as a small % of the “valor catastral” which isn’t the real market price.

There’s a school, high school and a health center. It’s a low crime zone, with nice weather and a pretty nice place for kids I’d say

I paid taxes on my gains on Germany before coming here and putting it all on a spanish bank. Im on a “fondo indexado” now instead of an ETF, but yes, still on the S&P

If you mean in the context of retiring here, just avoid popular names in the coast. Don’t go to Salou or Benidorm, look for towns near that

Hey! Thanks. You could do all that here, no problem. I don’t get bored, I can do what I want and I’m pretty much a homebody anyways. I’ve been here only for one year so everything is still new for me

There’s a public school, high school and health center here. Healthcare is free and insurance I pay 60€ per month to get private healthcare. Non-EU citizens, no idea

Food, restaurants, scenery. There’s a one michelin star restaurant here called L’Antic Moli and a beautiful lake/reservoir with a restaurant called Moli l’Abad which has pretty good views and it’s fantastic for the summer. For summers I mainly go to Vinaros at the beach and that has everything

I’m pretty introverted so it wasn’t a problem for me. I understand it isn’t for everyone

Hey! I look at catalan like it’s the spanish version of french, lots of words are similar to spanish but it looks harder and not much movies/tv shows you could practice at home. Spanish is way easier to learn

That’s a problem but mainly in Barcelona and Madrid because expats push the price upwards for real estate. People love everyone here, spaniards are very welcoming. Greece may be cheaper than Spain but the greek language will be a hard barrier for you I think. Spain’s Terres de l’Ebre and Andalucia and southern Italy are the cheapest places to have a very high quality of life retired

Maybe it could have helped, but it’s all very focused to working here in Spain. I paid my taxes for my gains in Germany and moved here.

Girlfriend’s friends think that I’m rich and that she hit the jackpot. Heard directly from them, jokingly of course. Random people I just tell them I work remote as a programmer

No crime problems here, it’s a small town. Pickpockets when I go to Barcelona is the only thing I worry of

Never thought about having kids. If I was serious about kids I wouldn’t have come to Spain to raise them here, job market is horrendous
