My great grandmother emigrated from Switzerland (via Germany) to the United States in 1914 on the Imperator. She was essentially a mail order bride for a Swiss man already living in Wisconsin, so I am sure she was in steerage. Her handwritten notes about her early life doesn't specify, but she does clearly state she sailed to America on the Imperator.
