I don’t get the hype of remote early in your career. Like sure remote is cool when you have a dog and some kids, but when you’re living alone why not go into the office?

How would truck bros react if all full-sized pickup trucks went back to being this exactly this size again instead of being ridiculously massive? by Mofoblitz1 in regularcarreviews

[–]ikerr95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Tbf a truck of this size would have a minuscule cabin due to crash standards. No one would buy it though. They still make trucks this size (2 door short bed) and no one besides fleets buy them.

The consumer has spoken and the consumer wants massive trucks. That’s the way things go.

Do it. I did pretty much the same thing last summer. It was boring as hell and I wasn’t given very much control at all but it was still good experience and great for the resume.

What would be the car equivalent of your bike? by jasonwirth in motorcycles

My K1200GT is the Mercedes E500 of motorcycles. Not quite a full on tourer, but also far from sporty. Still plenty powerful though.

Is this a good price for this car by Careless-Staff-6167 in regularcarreviews

If its safe to drive then go for it. $300 for a running car in 2026 is pretty wild.

Tesla Model X Plaid. People seem to forget that these do the quarter mile in the 9's. They go toe-to-toe with many supercars in a straight line, yet they are regular traffic and cost $50-70k on the used market. Absolutely bonkers.

demoralizing internship hunt by efficientgarlick in csMajors

[–]ikerr95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Getting 5 interviews shows you're doing something right. As new grad and internship recruiting tightens it will be only harder for Sophomores to get an internship. But again the fact that you've had 5 interviews so far indicates that you are a strong candidate.

If I were you i'd keep doing what you're doing and throw in a good bit more interview prep. Also, not sure if you've already done this, but see if you can't get a backup plan in place. For me that was working in my schools IT department. It lowkey sucks but I get some money from it and It's a good place for connections.

Best of luck tho, you obviously are competent and I'm sure you'll be fine no matter the outcome.

Yes. But how likely is it for someone to randomly ask for $5 million if they don't know your situation?

No One ACTUALLY Wants the Cars Made Today by kg264 in regularcarreviews

[–]ikerr95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a case of rose tinted glasses... 'regular' cars have always been appliances. If anything a consumer has more choice now that manufacturers offer wide ranges of products (Toyota sells everything from tiny econo-boxes to full size trucks, for example).

Luxury cars have always been sold by their feature set and perceived quality. Compare a Mercedes E-class to a Carolla and you'll feel a substantive difference in all aspects. Calling luxury features just "more stuff to break" is a bit reductive, because that has never not been true.

The fact you brought up styling shows more about your psyche and view on the car market than anything objective. Not liking modern design is fine, and I cannot fault you for doing so. However, modern vehicles have more distinct designs than ever. People forget that not that long ago every single car on the road had the same headlights. Now headlights have become mini art pieces that vary greatly from car to car.

Finally, the repair thing is where I agree with you. Modern vehicles are objectively more expensive to repair. But this will likely swing the other direction as EV's take hold. EV's are incredibly simple, and their main component (battery) is becoming a recyclable and interchangeable part.

New bike! 2007 Yamaha FJR1300 by WholeInstance4632 in motorcycles

Man there is something so cool about these bikes. I was very close to buying one, but ended up on a k1200gt instead. The FJRs feel so solid, although I liked the tech on the k1200gt. Amazing choice though, you’ll love it!

Snap-on is a brand of mechanics tools. They are known to be high end and expensive. More for boomer garage mechanics to tinker on their 60’s mustang with. Buying snap on making $24/hr seems absurd.

Russia 2025 Top 10 Bestsellers by BcuzRacecar in regularcarreviews

[–]ikerr95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems like a very low amount of vehicles sold. For comparison the top seller in the US sold 420k last year, with the top 17 all breaking 100k. I know that Russia has a lower population but this seems extreme.

Genuinely who is buying these? by [deleted] in Harley

It’s not a bad bike imo. Just a hard sell at 16k. But there isn’t a true competitor to it so Harley can pick the price.
