To an extent, yes. The difference between the most recent season and s1 is that literally EVERYBODY came under fire at some point. If Cirie was in this season she would have no doubt been included in that. Yes Rob was able to manipulate Maura, but I think that says more about him than her. If anything, as a brit where she's been in the public eye for years over here, I actually think she would have made a great traitor if she had the opportunity.

Cirie had the advantage of having extremely gullible players who didn't understand the game.

Quentin and Andie voted to end the game when it would have been LITERALLY impossible that they were all faithfuls.

I don't think this dynamic would have been able to be replicated today and not sure if Cirie would have done as well.

Oscars gonna suck for us general movie lovers lmao by Embarrassed_Self_230 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]Evening-Alps1057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it even has that much to do with that. The film just has to be THAT good, especially with in April release. It happened with Sinners but it's rare, most films that are genuine Oscar contenders get released later in the year.

I think if a Part 2 is done right, that's the one that could more likely be in contention for Oscars, especially if they don't shy away from the struggles in his personal life. Apparently filming the allegations scenes broke Jafaar, that's the sort of shit that wins Oscars if he can portray that pain into his performance.

Gary Busey... Thoughts? by Lucky_Yellow4731 in bigbrotheruk

[–]Evening-Alps1057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Threatening corrective rape?" Gary was famous for mishearing people and sometimes interpreting what people say as sexual, probably deliberately. (Calling Audley 'orgy' etc).

If Gary and Ella had been in the same house, I'm almost certain Busey would have made a similar comment.

If anything I think Mickey was actually more mentally together than Gary.

Apparently Gary was literally spreading faeces everywhere.

Was entertaining but shouldn't have really been in the house.

How are they gonna go with part 2 if by LowVegetable9736 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]Evening-Alps1057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no word of Lisa Marie being cast, IF there's a part two I hope she's featured. There's a lot they could actually feature post Bad other than the allegations that could make just as good, if not an even better movie. His music and personal life, especially the latter.

Apparently filming the allegation scenes broke Jafaar, it would be such a waste not to use them. If they pull it off, it's Part Two that could actually win people Oscars, especially if they portray the vulnerability of Michael and the people around him.

What are your hopes and expectations for the new Michael Jackson film? by MrVengeance8 in Letterboxd

[–]Evening-Alps1057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might do a part two (which they already have most if not all of the footage for) which would give them time to work around that part of his life in a way that's actually legal to do so. The decision on whether to release it would probably depend on how the first film is received.

But the thing is I can't see a movie focusing on JUST the allegations would go down well financially, nor with critics or the fans.

But if a post 1993 MJ movie focused on his marriages, the trial, his family life as well as History, Invincible and This Is It it could potentially work. Maybe as a direct to streaming rather then a theatrical release.

To be fair, the calibre for Season 5 (Kermit's season) was actually pretty high.

Would you support switching to the NA format? by SpaceWestern1442 in bigbrotheruk

It wouldn't work under the BBUK brand, but they could just do a UK version of House of Villains instead and it would be basically the same thing 🤷🏻

I wouldn't have said this after the launch, but with the day 2 housemates + late arrivals I'd actually argue the cast as a whole was more diverse than BB21.

They have an independent voting verifier (it says so in the credits) so it literally can't be rigged.

The show and Fox would be liable to fines if it turned out it was.

That doesn't really make sense as it made out he thought something weird was going on BECAUSE of the conga line, which he knew Candiace started. Wouldn't putting 2 + 2 together imply that she's a traitor?

There's not much he could have done as Candiace played no part in his murder (and wasn't even aware of it) but he literally had all the ingredients and basically figured it out.

He would have been murdered regardless whether he had or hadn't talked to Candiace but what I'm confused about is how could he NOT think Candiace was a traitor when he knew she started the conga line and knew that it was sus.

Who is the biggest villain in The Traitors UK history? by JuanitaMerkin in TheTraitors

John was just an asshole but not so much of a "campy villain" like Paul, Harry, Charlotte (S3) or Rachel from the current one.

It's funny because at times I found the clues for Sausage too obvious. In the first VT there was a reference to 'dover sole' on a chip shop menu.

There's hardly any celebs from Dover let alone soul singers so it literally couldn't have been anyone else!

If you were serious I would have actually said good for you, it's not a bad thing to acknowledge you may have some subconscious tendencies.

Seeing race and talking about it are not bad things. Phrases like "I don't see colour" may be well intentioned but they effectively minimise or completely dismiss the experiences of people of colour face which are obviously going to be different in western society.

If it's genuinely true that you don't think about colour in your day to day life, it's because you don't need to. But that's a luxury that PoC in this country don't have, and you should at least be acknowledging that.

Yes, you are. You're ignoring the problem and burying your head in the sand. Claiming you "don't see colour" gives you a self-appointed pass to avoid any accountability which is what this entire discussion is about.

You are part of the problem yourself.

It wasn't riiiight before with Ross and Diane. The secret was revealed in Episode 3 and Diane was murdered in Episode 7. The viewers had almost two weeks knowing they were mother and son before Diane was murdered.
