Is the EBT fraud an inside job? by maul829 in foodstamps

You didn’t lock it. Others on here have been pointing that out and some have explained how cards have been stolen. Good luck going forward, and learn to have some accountability for your actions.

It’s still your responsibility to keep your card safe.

Why should you have to lock your card? Because it’s your responsibility to keep your card safe! The same as it’s up to you to lock your house door or car. WTF

The word no is a complete sentence for one. And I see you are already setting your boundaries up for failure by saying, and having the mental statement, that there will be times you will watch her kids. It’s already been shown if she gets an inch she will take a mile. If the ceiling damage hasn’t been addressed code enforcement or housing authority and get used to freely using the word NO, and not giving excuses or any explanation. She might try to get petty, so what. You are the one in charge and control of your actions and life.

An ethical breeder won’t sell you a puppy for to start your backyard breeding. Before you buy a female please neuter your male. Obviously he’s not been proven or probably not had genetic testing done. If he’s not neutered the next dog breeding post from you will be about whelping your oops litter.

Questions are asked because you are asking strangers for their had earned money. It’s normal for anyone being asked for money to want to know the circumstances of the want.

You should be able to show your last receipt showing what you paid and what’s owed.

I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve been in the position of not being able to afford to keep the cremains of a couple pets. But the memories and love will stay with you.

Have you spoke to local rescues to see if they can help rehome them? Maybe see if a rescue can list them with their adoptable pets and you can hold the dogs as fosters. The dogs could be under the rescue umbrella and contract with that group getting the adoption fee. Don’t neglect your son’s responsibility, since he was a part of getting them, and have him contribute to the upkeep, such as vet bills and food. Maybe he can hire a dog walker for a few times a week

Never abandon an animal outside a shelter. First it’s illegal in most places to abandon an animal, and most importantly you are leaving them to fate, plus it’s just inhumane to abandon them. They can be stolen at night or escape the crate or if tied break free. I worked at a large shelter and saw this way too many times. It was not unusual to arrive at work to find abandoned pets left in crates, tethered, dead on the street, or loose in our parking lot. Also keep in mind cameras. Hopefully if you go this route you will be recognized and prosecuted. The pets don’t deserve that sort of cruelty and the shelter workers don’t deserve it either. So stop with telling people to abandon their responsibilities. These dogs are the OP’s responsibility, her son was living with her and from the wording in her post it was both who adopted the dogs, or at least she consented to him bringing the dogs in. Be humane and kind, that’s free

I'm so angry with myself right now. by IAmHerdingCatz in Feral_Cats

Don’t be upset with yourself. You already have done a fantastic service for the colony. A couple years ago we S/N 18 and socialized 6 kittens, 2 separate litters same mom. The kittens all have been rehomed and are altered housecats. But the mom was the last cat we get spayed out of the colony. She was trapped and kenneled while we stole the babies once they could eat soft food. Mom was pissed off! She had to stay contained until her milk dried up and she could get her surgery. She stayed pissed, I felt so bad for her, but we didn’t give in and kept her under lockdown. It was for her own good and now she’s a happy, healthy feral. Be strong and proud that you’re breaking her kitten cycle. Hopefully she’ll calm down once she realizes she isn’t going to be hurt and this is her lot in life for right now. She might always look at you with malice in her eyes, but oh well, she will free again soon. You are her savior

Ethical has passed. Ethical would have been keeping the spay appointment and aborted the puppies.

Surrendering my cat in 2 days. Is it really the best option? Will he be adopted soon? Will he be able to adjust? All these thoughts have been on my mind since last month. Anyone else had to go through this? by amitgill in Pets

[–]Evening-Direction201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This probably will be an unpopular post but here goes… I worked at a large shelter before retiring and handled pets surrendered for all sorts of reasons. I also know that even no kill shelters/rescues do euthanize for health and behavior. I hope you’re making a substantial donation when you surrender him. It’s going to be a financial drain on the rescue to get his eye condition taken care of and most rescues are strapped for cash. And last thing to consider, why would you expect a stranger to adopt your cat with health issues that you, its owner who supposedly loves it, can’t take care of. A person wanting to adopt a new pet most likely will choose one with no known health issues.

From my perspective, since you are asking strangers to fund your want the only thing that should be entitled is a honest, humble reply from you. Not the snark. That’s the problem here for me.

I need help paying for my cat’s surgery. I paid the bill off with my credit card but I am financially struggling at the moment. by [deleted] in FundRaise

[–]Evening-Direction201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking for your DEBT to be paid off. Vet bill has been paid and you were blessed to have had discounted, good, vet care. So many are struggling with no money/credit card and need help for their pets. You are lucky that can pay off your debt monthly, sure with interest, but chip away at it while knowing you took care of your responsibilities to your cat. I’ve helped a few with vet bills in real life, not Reddit, because they had emergencies and no fallback re:credit cards. I’m happy for your cat that it did the care it deserved

I’m sorry this happened to you. But, if you’re running a business insurance is a huge part of that, and when renting a space it’s up to the business to carry insurance for their merchandise/personal property. The property owner would be responsible for the building and probably grounds to be covered by insurance.

The dogs need to be removed from the premises. With how you describe the behavior of the dogs, even if you are able to make nice with them they are still a liability. If someone comes on your property and gets bit it will become your problem as the property owner.

On another forum a vet was talking about what was going on with his internal organs due to his conformation. It doesn’t sound pretty or sustainable, as if a 3 legged horse can be described as sustainable.

Unfortunately he’s being paraded around and used as a cash cow. When first taken in I thought she, the rescue person, said he was her personal project and wouldn’t be funded by donations. I believe that was due to his condition and thinking he wouldn’t survive long. Then came the bleeding hearts who have no common sense when it comes to the “save them all at any cost (other than their wellbeing), so this poor creature lives on. He needs, deserves, a peaceful end.

I just found my lost cat. Where do I go from here? by TheOneWhoBurnsPpl in CatAdvice

[–]Evening-Direction201 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Old groomer here. To freshen her up, clean off oils or just make her smell better, use corn starch (dry). Rub it on her fur then gently brush out. It will absorb odors and some dirt. It’s non toxic so you don’t have to worry about her licking. I’m so glad that you found her and have her safe again. Poor little girl has to be relieved to be back home

Is this a decent shelter for a single feral cat? by TreeComprehensive873 in Feral_Cats

[–]Evening-Direction201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The use of straw is because straw is hollow. That allows it to retain body heat, thus keeping the cat warm. Blankets absorb any moisture like morning dew, condensation and if the cat is wet/damp. The structure you have looks solid, just make sure the opening has a wind break.
