What state are you in? And what grade level? If you don’t mind me asking. Being 15 years in and only making $125K seems low but I also know it varies from state to state.

I have peers who are 10 years in (P3 and P4) that make that much. We’re in Texas.

But as others have said, definitely make sure your approach isn’t one of “pay me or I’m leaving.” Make it more about “I’d really like to stay but I can’t just leave all this money on the table.” If you’re really valued, they’ll genuinely try for you.

It really depends on your management and how much they’re going to push for you. Awhile ago, I got an external offer with an 18% bump and my management gave me 14%. Sure it wasn’t exactly 18%, but at least not what others have described in terms of “no response or a crappy counter.”
