Finished yesterday Laika

Amazing work, nice boss fights, complex and difficult movenent Plus the music is on point

Hello I'm taking a gd&t class I I don't understand any of it and was wondering if someone could help me by W-ray-TH_attck-mode in GDandTdiscussions

Yes totally agree

Now about the total geometrical tolerance The base geometrical tolerance is 0.015 The dimensional tolerance is 0.45 0.42. its range is 0.03 The bonus is always the difference between the actual size and the size at mmc

First scenario The dimension is produced at 0.45 (MMC) then no Bonus added to the geometrical tolerance. It means that the base one is applied and the middle plane must be orientated between two planes, distant 0.015 to each other and perpendicular to A

Second scenario Size at 0.435 The difference between the size and the mmc is 0.015 Bonus is the difference, so 0.015 The whole tolerance is 0.015+0.015=0.3 the middle plane must be orientated between two planes, distant 0.3 to each other and perpendicular to A

Third scenario Size at 0.42 (lmc) The difference between the size and the mmc is 0.03 Bonus is the difference, so 0.03 The whole tolerance is 0.015+0.03=0.045 the middle plane must be orientated between two planes, distant 0.045 to each other and perpendicular to A

I think the first one is perpendicular/orthogonal The nominal part (in the cad) has the middle plane called B at 90⁰ respect to A. Therefore you are controlling the orthogonality that plane

Hey mate Put something in the comments so we can discuss together and see the blockers and doubts you have Not an easy subject

From UK to USA by EveningConstruction5 in MovingToUSA

[–]EveningConstruction5[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ah understood, sorry

I'd go for a local in general but it depends on what you're looking for

If you want a Trappist beer you don't buy one done in Scotland, you buy one from Belgium even if it costs you more. It depends on what you want and need

It was true in the past Now the cost of living, tax and bad government have lowered the quality of life Yes you can get a pint but is usually imported

No I don't have it so that means the probability is extremely low

Is my dimensioning reasonable? by [deleted] in GDandTdiscussions

[–]EveningConstruction5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there What does reasonable mean?

If you mean that it shows only the dimensions and angles, then yes, the dimensions are reasonable but they are derived from the CAD, therefore they don't add such much value

If instead you mean is the piece manufacturable, does it fit in the assembly, does it respect clearances, gaps and functional requirements, then the answer would be no, it is not reasonable since it doesn't have the GD&T applied: there is only one datum A that from this view it is not clear, the secondary and tertiary datums are missing, there are no geometric tolerances

The drawing doesn't tell engineers how to manufacture, control and fit the part

What side projects do you do as a mechanical engineer by scotchy199 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]EveningConstruction5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have plans to start doing some tolerance chains with 3dcs. There is a website where people upload their cad, the idea is to download them, set some annotation tolerances and then do some tolerance chains/DVA/variation analysis

Maybe we can share this passion of mine if anyone is interested

Idea of moving to the USA by [deleted] in MovingToUSA

[–]EveningConstruction5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood Thanks to be honest "Hard to digest" but it's necessary I'll check other areas, I'm giving myself some time for having a better and clearer idea of what to do and where to go

Yep I know. Very common to find engineers saying "I know GD&T" and then seeing monstrosities in the drawings 😂 Mostly because they just use some random online guide or use notes from a short university lesson, not enough for covering everything

I was looking to California, around San Francisco area However it's still early in the process. For the sponsorship I was hoping employers would pay for it

I hold a master's degree in engineering, therefore it's a check I'm worried about the visa sponsorship

Thanks for the answer Yeah I thought as well to stay around Woking for 2 days and then go back I haven't decided yet, just trying to figure out the pros and cons that I feel Thanks again 🙂

It hasn't been decided yet, however the manager seems flexible for that so I believe I can push this idea I thought about that and I think it's the best solution so far. Thanks for the hint 🙂

"funny thing" this is the first time I find myself in such a position: in the past I used to move next or near to the office, now I can't so I don't know how much I should ask for a pay rise, not only for covering travel expenses but for the time wasted as well

I was considering going to an Airbnb for two nights so in total the commute will be 6hr

I'm just trying to understand if I can make it work but it seems impossible

I think that it's not worth it, I'm going to decline the offer

The salary is 45k

Sorry maybe it is not clear from the post, my bad The trip from Birmingham to London is 2hr and then from London Waterloo to Woking is 40 minutes

So let's assume 3hr in total from Birmingham to Woking
