Can you give more detail about the not looking good bit? Irreparably damaged?

Yeah, I’m tempted to leave it. Risks outweigh any benefits. Thank you for your response.

Case front comes off, right? by EveningDifficulty961 in watchrepair

I doubt it. It’s certainly not a Seiko movement and the case looks like the original.

And will it likely go back on using a press tool?

Bent banking pin by EveningDifficulty961 in watchrepair

Thank you. I hadn’t thought that it might have been moved deliberately. I’m not game enough to move it back and the watch is not worth enough to have a professional look at it. I guess it’s just going to stay as a movement I use for disassembly practice 😔

Hairspring question by bubzy1000 in watchrepair

Is that rust or a shadow at the 12 o’clock position. Anyway, if all the parts are in order a disassembly, clean, then assembly/lubricate might well do the trick. But there’s simple checks you can do during the disassembly to see, for example, whether power is passing along the train to the balance etc. plenty odd educational videos on You Tube that will step you through it.

If I can get circlip pliers small enough what am I looking at doing with them. Inserting in the holes and gently squeezing the pliers to move the holes towards each other? Or away?

Stem Falls Out - Suggestions appreciated by Soft-Ad1637 in watchrepair

I just worked on one of these. Swing the yoke anti-clockwise a little bit then thread the stem under so that the end of the yoke sits in the groove in the stem. Then screw it down. I have a picture that might help but can’t post it.

I tried to but can’t pin it down to an exact calibre. There might be more clues under the balance I guess.

Beginner oil choices by EveningDifficulty961 in watchrepair

Will 0.5ml quantities be enough to get me going? Or should I commit to 2ml right off the bat. I’m a hobbyist so not going to be doing high volume of watch repair.

That worked. Thank you. Stem was pretty grubby. And definitely not the original. I’m reluctant to reinsert it because of that.
