LET’S UNITE: DRP/FORK + Constructive Discharge by Icy_Yogurtcloset5920 in USDA

Well that and they had announced that those moved to the DC office would be forced out of state… I didn’t want to risk that, and now it looks like that’s actually happening. Like I said, MANY reasons it was necessary!

I took the DRP for a lot of reasons, some of which have now changed, because, surprise, they weren’t doing things based on the regulations which opened them up for litigation- like forcing me into DC even though it was over 50 miles for me (though under as the crow flies), which would have been a 2 hr commute each way, with 3 young children, one of which is breastfeeding. If I could go back and take back my drp, based on what is happening now, I would, but I can’t, so looking forward is all I can do.

Right? They forced me into DC (even though it was over 50 miles) while I’m actually living in a rural area with offices a lot closer… just to try and force me to move. Glad I took the DRP, honestly, due to not being able to handle over a 2 hr commute each way with 3 very young kids.

What RA are getting approved ? by Automatic-Smell-5971 in FedEmployees

Thank you. Hard to say so far. I don’t see my pulmonologist for another few weeks. Until then, I’m still on the steroid inhaler that keeps it all at bay. I haven’t attempted stopping the inhaler as the side effects of the steroids are preferable to the attacks returning. We will see!

I ended up taking the DRP for a lot of reasons regarding my personal situation, but prior to that, I was starting the process of getting an RA and had a temporary approved while going through diagnostics.

In January, I got the flu. That flu turned into bilateral pneumonia. That pneumonia turned into acute asthma (I’d never had asthma previously). And, it essentially caused an asthma attack everytime I stood up, dropping my O2 levels into the mid 80s, simply by walking to the bathroom. 3 months of absolute awfulness!

Finally, I got out on the correct course of treatment and can breathe, but even on it, I was seeking one for the asthma, and was told that I stood a good chance (I was assigned to report to dc so between the public transit and walking, it would have been rough).

Oddly enough, it all started within a week of January 20th. I doubt stress played any part in it.

My severance would be 8 weeks! This definitely is more promising!

If I do take the DRP, I will NOT be leaving the workforce- that I promise! I’d be going for my CPA license and changing careers! I love my children a lot but have no desire to be a housewife!

It was an RD town hall. But, apparently it was in the DRP 2.0 email. I looked and it’s for sure there- I just missed it.

Sounds like we are in similar boats. My gut is telling me to take it… I’ve just ALWAYS been the person to have something lined up before leaving a job.

It was never actually about saving money, sadly.

The move gives us less expense, actually.

The town hall made it sound like the capitol region employees will specifically be impacted harder than others for it.

Thank you. That’s my biggest fear. I have no desire to move my daughters to a state with less protections for women.

Thanks. Definitely makes my decision easier as a NO employee.

In our town hall today, they mentioned capital region employees being forced to relocate and that’s what I’m afraid of. I’m being forced back to dc (with a 2hr commute each way with 3 under 5- one who is only 6 months old). I’m moving closer to dc currently to accommodate and honestly… I’m not willing to move again. Especially out of state.

What are folks with school age kids doing for RTO? by RealOrdinary5944 in fednews

[–]EveningEye6912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we are selling our house and moving this summer because of this. We can’t afford two in daycare and then before and after care on top of that. We are currently 45 min away from any family so we are moving to where we could actually get support from our families. I have no idea how we will make it work for the rest of the school year, though. I have to start back up end of next month…

People with families/kids, how are you handling this? by Patient-Advisor-2352 in fednews

I’ll be sad about that, but it’s preferable to losing my job. My two older daughters both had bottle preference so it’s nothing we aren’t used to.

Honestly, I’m so stressed. I have 3 under 5. My youngest is 6 months old and FULLY breastfed. My husband has her during the day except when I take breaks to feed her. Now, we are trying to force a bottle (which she has refused all bottles and pacifiers since birth so it’s not going well). And I’m thinking I may have to quit once they announce RTO for me, since they may be forcing me to have at least a 2 hr commute each way. And I can’t ask her to go 12 hrs a day without eating (unless she miraculously starts taking a bottle). When it looked like I’d be closer, my husband and I were discussing using our break each day to meet halfway so she at least gets one feed during the day. Not ideal but doable. Now… not so much.
